just starting the process

Recommended Posts

Hey, I am just starting this whole procedure. I have been to 2 seminars, one w/ Dr. Schmitt & one w/ Dr. Long. I really liked Dr. Schmitt but i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on either one.

Also, I was wondering about the 6 month diet thing. If you go to your OB/GYN did you only have to see them 3 times in 6 months?

I also have PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome), which makes it easy to gain and hard to lose. If anyone can help with any of these questions, I would be grateful.:smile2:

You have to do a medically supervised diet plan where the md charts your weight and does a note about what youre doing to lose weight his suggestions to you etc. Like I did adipex and the Lipo injections.....MOST Gyns wont do that now you can use your weight history from your gyn.

i would say you are goign to have to show a month to month chart. i did anyways.

and have you seen dr.miles yet. i liked him much better then Schmitt. miles is the one that done my surgery and he will sit there and talk all day if he could.

OH and for the supervised diet you have to see the doc at least once a month...if you have bcbs. Go to your insurances' website and look up their requirements for weightloss surgery. Lap band will be under there and it should tell you step by step what they need before you can be considered for the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
