Since this thread on LEGALIZING prositution has morphed into one concerning ones christian beliefs....I have another question!

This was presented to me by my Dad I mentioned before during a simple conversation.

IF being a Christian were suddenly outlawed---could YOU be convicted? Are there personal witnesses who have SEEN with their own eyes your good deeds, and your lack of judging them or others? Have you SPOKEN with them regarding religion or christianity?

OR is there only hearsay regarding your belief?

I know many people who would claim to be guilty, but many fewer who could be convicted!!!!

He ask me this more than 20 years ago, and it still runs around in my head now and then....and does affect how I treat and look at others!!

Sorry but what has this got to do with lapband or weight loss? Get focused and email or go to another site to talk about this.

Grandma, enough already. You joined yesterday and have got all of seven posts under your belt and THREE of them that I've read have been telling people what to do! Mind your own business and stay on the MULTIPLE threads that have what you want in them! There are other threads dedicated to other issues on this site as well.

{I pointed that out because you act as if the prostitute and her sin is somehow removed from your sin. She may be sinning without knowing God, yet you sin WHILE knowing God. Which one is worse??} I believe it is worse for the unbeliever who sins because they will not have an advocate to stand before God for them. (refering to Jesus). The believer in Christ will be forgiven. The unbeliever will not be. Her sin is no worse than mine in God's eyes. If you think I believe I am better than her then you have me wrongly pegged.

{But you ARE being judgmental to act as if their sin is somehow different from your sin. You act all high and mighty because you are saved, but yet you sin still... just like they do.}

like I said many times before, ALL sin. Even the saved. I never said or acted as if her sin was different than mine. The only difference between a believer who sins and an unbeliever who sins is where they will spend eternity.

{Yet when you were told you were sinning as well, you said I wrote a "nasty post" to you. :rolleyes:}

so what? you did write a nasty note to me. You said that 'I should go and stand with the prostitute.' I said 'I only have to stand with her in this life.'

What's sinful about that? If I said anything to offend you personally, I apologize.

{Do you love them because you are called to, or do you love them because you feel superior to them and they make you feel better about yourself?}

What makes you think that I feel superior to them? or that loving people makes me feel better about myself? I have a love for people because we were all created in God's image. Even though we never met, I have a love for you because I know that every soul is precious to my Father. (I don't always love what people say or do(like prostitution), but I love them).....( I can't figure out how to use quotes in my posts, but I put the answer to your comments directly under them above)

Dearest grandmasandy,

This thread is properly placed in the Rants and Raves area, buried and secluded. Please note this when telling us when and where to talk about this or other subjects besides the "lap-band". If you would like a playground where you only talk of the Lap-Band, there is plenty of WWW space for you to create your own website.

All Lap-Band and no play would make this a VERY dull board.

Have a Great Day, and much success on your banding!

Most Sincerely,

Diva

I wonder if PG loves sinners as much as the Christian Crusaders loved the non Christians they slew?

Seriously, Patty, if you don't get it, I can't help you. Even Jesus Himself can't help you get it, otherwise I would be seeing the Holy Spirit coming though in your words, not condemnation. That is your issue, not mine. "By their fruits you will know them." Your fruits are a bit hard and bitter.

I just explained to you on another thread--the Posting Just to Post thread, that LBT encompasses many subjects, many involving lap band and many that don't.

Even on the threads that are not directly related to the band, it is something that draws us all together.

There are many areas on the site that should appeal to what you are apparantly looking for, discussion of the band only.....please look around and you will find a bountiful selection of them.

In the meantime, I personally would appreciate it if you would not tell me what to do, and what I can or cannot talk about on this site, or when I should take a conversation to email.

Alex runs this site....not you, and not me. He has however ask my help in moderating the site, and even with that I do my level best not to tell people what to do, I seriously would appreciate the same consideration from you.

OK.., Patty.

Let's get something very straight, from one Christian to another.

Please, get off the judgement... it is not the seat that Christ gave you.

I like the idea of making being a born again christian against the law. I think that would solve lots of things.

Over time, I have been told I am going to hell many times because I did not get born again, and make the Lord Jesus my personal saviour. When I point out that I am Catholic born and raised - although not currently practicing - they say the original Baptism, and later Confirmation doesn't count.

It appears to me, from my understanding of the bible, that Jesus hung with prostitutes and tax collectors (usually referred to as sinners) and other people who at the time were assumed to be sinners (leapers for example). Times changed, and Tax collectors are not sinners, neither are leapers.

Also, please remember. Jesus or God the father, if you will did not write the Bible. Not the original one, not the King James version, most commonly used by Christians at this time.

It is my understanding that only God can determine what is a sin, and only God can judge you for those same sins. Yet, I have been judged most by people who claim to be Christians.

In my view, Prostitutes are not doing anything wrong. They are business people - please note the use of people, not women as Prostitutes come in many varieties. They provide a service and some of them make a tremendous amount of money - over $250K/year.

I built this opinion by watching an HBO series called Cathouse, which follows the operations of the Midnight Bunny Ranch that is located outside of Reno, NV. It is the best known brothel in the US. The women on this show are bright, pleasant, and seem to genuinely enjoy their job. I would encourage the people against prostitutes to take a gander at this series. I think it will open your eyes.

One last thing. I don't want to see a boatload of replies about Catholicism. I know it has it's faults and it's demons, and it is these things that make me a non practicing Catholic.

Now put down that cookie and get back to loosing weight!

      I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

      Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

        I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

        Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
