1st fill yesterday, I feel no different!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I finally got my first fill yesterday, banded on 9/5/08, Realize band. She put in 2.5cc a 9cc capacity band and I feel absolutely no different. I had no restriction before, and I feel the same now. I've been eating soft foods. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but it's hard. Anybody else feel this way?

You are not alone. I had my first fill on Thursday. I actully have felt hungrier than I did before the fill. My understanding is that most doctors don't put much fill in the first time to get us used to trying to eat the bandster way. We are still in banster hell. It could be as many as 3 or more fills before we feel real restriction. Don't get discouraged. We will make it through this tough time. Just keep trying to make good choices.

I was banded 3rd Sept, had my 1st fill Wed and i'm embarrassed to say i'm eating more. I personally am not making the best food choices at the moment, I thought I would have restriction after 1st fill but then again it could be the food i'm eating. I am finding it hard not to eat and drink or wait the hour till after i've eaten. But I haven't put any weight on and i'm going to revaluate my eating right now. I didn't want to, or think i'd need to keep a food diary but maybe I should.

thanks for what you said, b/c I am doing the same thing. I have lost a whole 2 lbs in the last month since my first fill. wow! I am ready to get back on track.....in the past when I lost at this weight I am currently sitting, I always reverted to old habits. Once I get passed this hurtle, I will be ok!

I'm right there with you guys. My surgery was sept 12 and first fill Oct 17. No difference! I'm just going to follow the rules and hope for the best. What really bothers me is that the holidays are so close and there will be all that junk to resist!

I didn't feel anything after my first fill, had some restriction after second. Had my third on Thursday, got food stuck last night. Taking it VERY easy today. Hoping I am not too tight and just didn't chew enough.

Restriction will come, just give it another fill or two.

Usually you will not fill much of a restriction with your first fill, especially if you have a bigger band. I called for a second fill two weeks after my first. The second one was much better. The third one, the doctor didn't want to give me because I was losing steady, but I was getting greedy. He agreed on 1cc but told me to be careful. I was really tight and couldn't eat anything solid for about a week. I then had a visit from "TOM" and that really makes me tight. I will never have a fill at that time of month again. I hung in there and didn't go back for an unfill but I canceled my fill for this month and I am going to wait until Dec 3 for fill #4.

Don't get discouraged with your first fill.

Hello, I too just had my first fill, surgery was 9/10/08. I am feeling some restriction, however, it seems that in the evening, I can eat more than other times of the day. Just hang in there and we will be thinner in no time.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
