okay guys.....had surgery 6/26/08. i have had 3 fills total (10cc band) i have about 4.5 in my band. i started at around 210 i was down to 190 and gained back about 8 lbs......which was totally my fault, i had shoulder surgery and ate PBJ (i know, bad on my part again) been drinking some serious Water (gave up soda--maybe 1 sprite a month when my tummy hurts) but guys really, shouldnt ihave lost more than only 15lbs? or is it the fact i need more fills? i feel SOME restriction with certain foods but i definately get hungry before 3-4 hours. i read where people have been on this and lost 25-40 within their first couple of months. guess i am just bummed. no exercise becaue i just had shoulder surgery. someone HELP any advice woud be awesome!!!!

Well, I think when you are able to excercise, that will help a lot. Do you track your foods? Are you eating Protein first, then veggies, then if you have room carbs? Are you eating slider foods?

You may be doing things right, some people are just slower losers but if not, the things above can really affect the loss.

I know exactly what you are going through. I had my surgery on Aug. 18 and have only lost 17 pounds. I am always reading on this site where people have lost alot more weight and here I am stuck on 17 pounds. I am on my 3rd fill with 7cc in my 9cc band. I am also really bummed and wonder if this band is even going to work for me. Unlike you, I AM able to exercise. I walk 4 miles every other day (but since the kids are finished with cheerleading and football), now I will be down to 2 miles a day due to gas prices and not wanting to run out my gas so fast. It seems that no matter what I do, I can't get this weight off and it is really driving me NUTS!!!!

Wow you have had a lot of fills, I was banded on Auguts 7th and have had only one fill on September 9th. I have some small restriction but not much. I am watching what I eat and not going over 1200 a day. Walking and riding my bike.

I want another fill and want a bit more restriction.

I want to lose a bit more than 2-3 lbs a week.

Hi fellow bandsters--Patunia ---Keep the faith!!!! I was banded June 23rd 2008 and only lost 6 lbs. I kept asking how much was in my band as I had had 4 fills since my surgery. I thought I was up to 5.5. I went in last Wed. for another fill and this time the actual surgeon was in there to give me the fill. He withdrew the fill and then left the room (it took him 3 false poked with a big needle--he was terrible). When he came back he put in 1cc. I knew it was too much and I said it felt too tight. He said that I just wasn't used to any restriction. I went back the next day for a small unfill. The new nurse (I love her) said the doctor had said my original fill was only at 3 cc. and what should he do?? My old fill nurse was fired--maybe because she didn't put enough in. My new nurse was great--she did the slight unfill and was totally reassuring. I said I felt like I had done something wrong because I had only lost 6 lbs and she said it WASN'T my fault.. I think she felt bad that I had gone 4 months basically without enough restriction and only lost 6 lbs and totally blamed myself. Since Thurs. (4 days) I have lost 4 abs. I am still a little tight as I can only eat liquids but it is better than being able to eat a lot and not lose weight. You just need to get the right restriction. You will get there!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
