Is this restriction?

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill last week.

I am just trying new things and find a lot of what I am trying makes my stomach hurt a little bit. (like taco shells, ground beef, Tomato skins)

The one thing I have been able to eat fairly well is chicken wings. I can't eat all of them, and if they are too chewy I have to spit them out. 2 wings fills me up! I don't even have room for veggies or anything else.

Yesterday I ate:

2 wings for Breakfast

2 wings for lunch

1/4 cup of refried Beans for dinner

Is this normal? How can I get in Fiber, fruit, veggies, etc?

I'm at 6cc in my fill and different days I eat totally different. Yesterday I had a some chicken and mashed potatoes and was stuffed. Bad I know. The other day I had steak and 1/2 baked potato and wasn't full but stopped because I knew I had, had enough portion wise. In the mornings sometimes one egg and 1/2 muffin and I'm stuffed. As long as I don't PB I don't really worry about it. I just try to add at another meal a piece of fruit and salad for the veggies. Not perfect but I'm okay with it. Remember your multi vitaman. I consider restriction going 4-5 hours without really feeling the need to eat.

I just had my first fill last week... And I am experimenting with food too. Who knows what will work and what won't! Maybe when I have my 2nd fill I will be more restricted and won't be able to eat what I am able to at this point. I have fill #2 next week so we'll see.

Just too be the devil's advocate here---And please don't take this the wrong way. But--- how about instead of 2 chicken wings you have 2oz of grilled chicken with some buffalo sauce and 2oz veggie (like really super steamed broccoli tops). I only say this because it's still the same taste (kind of) but much better version. And veggies have good Fiber.

My doc recommended that I have 4oz total for meal. 2-3oz of Protein and the rest veggie. I have a digital scale at work and at home. Breakfast-- 2 scrambled eggs with a little cheese in the microwave. Little (like 3 spoons) of yogurt.

Lunch- half a south beach or lean cuisine-- equal parts of meat and veggie with a little bit of cottage cheese- to equal 4 oz.

Dinner-- Saute chicken cutlet with various seasonings and steamed broccoli (really steamed) to equal 4 oz. Or tonite I made bake spaghetti with beef/mushrooms.

Maybe the chicken is something that you cannot easily digest at all and there is another Protein that you should try.... I have seen alot of people on here that cannot eat chicken very well. I am just not sure if nutrionally wings are the best bet.... We bandsters need all the good stuff we can get in a small amount of food.< /p>

You have a couple of choices...

1) you can get a slight unfill

or

2) you can get more creative with your meals

When I'm feeling really tight I'll have vegetable Soups or cottage cheese with pureed fruit. I'll mince up chicken and add it to hot and sour Soup or steam the heck out of vegetables, being always careful not to eat any fibrous stems.

I've never been able to eat chicken wings...or any kind of fried chicken (for some reason). It could be you are feeling so full because of it's rubbery texture and it's just getting stuck.

This is just a time when you'll have to start experiementing with different foods. But you are right to be concerned about proper nutrition...it's so important especially when you are eating so little.

Congrats! Make sure you are drinking a lot and eating fruits and veggies often. I take a multi, and make sure I am getting Calcium as well. We have to learn to be so cognizant of what we eat, now that we are so restricted!

Although I don't have really great restriction, I have some and what I have found to be really easy to eat, especially for breakfast or snack is some greek yogurt with berries of all kinds and maybe some banana with granola and splenda. It's so yummy and easy to eat.

I find that certain things sit differently in my pouch and restriction is not really a factor. Things like triscuits sit heavy and now after several fills so do things like cheez-its - both of which are not the best of band foods. chicken wings sound delicious!! I got stuck on them once, because I forgot and ate the skin...not a good idea!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
