Looking for Surgeon in Austin Texas that accepts Tricare Prime

Recommended Posts

Hello All-

I am looking for a Bariatric Surgeon in Austin, Texas that accepts Tricare Prime. I do not have a Primary Care Manager yet either if you have suggestions for that as well.

Thanks,

Ana

My surgeon is on the "austin" side of san antonio and I know he takes tricare standard, but don't know about tricare prime! And don't you have to pick a PCM from their list? That's the big reason we don't have tricare prime....so I guess I'm not much help sorry! But welcome!

I have Tricare Prime and I did not even get to pick my PCM. One day I received a letter in the mail telling me who my PCM was. Now, of course, if I don't like him, I have to go through the hassle of asking for a new one. So far so good......he was on board with the Lap Band so I had no problem getting the referral (except for the fact that he referred me to a different surgeon from the one I requested - but that was easy to change). If you become a registered user on the www.humana-military.com website, it should tell you who your PCM is. Hope this helps.

Try Robina Poonawalla 512-440-8989, I personally asked if she referred anyone in the past and they told me yes actually today. So I am seeing her tomorrow for a referral.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
