LastOption - I'm still here with you!

Friday - usual walk in the am with DD and DDog - just about 1 mile. Every day, this is the minimum that I do. Lunchtime at work, I walk another 1 - 1.25 miles depending on the weather.

Saturday - hauled wood with DH for our new fireplace. He got some salvaged wood from work, brought it home in his truck, and we hauled it around the yard and cut it up (gotta love a chop saw). It was heavy - 6 x 6 pieces about 15 feet long, some 4 x 10 pieces 15 feet long. It was all hardwood, so it was HEAVY! All that bending and lifting had my legs a little sore.

Sunday - more wood hauling, plus I got to use the AX! Swinging one of those babies over your head and splitting big chunks of wood is great exercise. I got "Brute Squad" points once I found my groove and started splitting like a pro. Then we hauled wood inside the house (trips up and down the stairs)...I was so tired Sunday night I fell asleep on the couch in DH's arms.:cool2:

Walked the dog this morning - faster than normal, because it was so COLD outside! Will walk at lunch, but no gym tonight - DD's job is having an open house for family and parents and we have to attend.

Will check in with more this week...

Ebony all I can say is :w00t:WOWOWOWOW  I bet you are sore that sounds like a real workout!!! More power to ya!!!! Its cold in Dc so skipped lunch time workout/walk today. I should go to the gym but I am a little sore from my workout plus it TOM :tt2: boo hisss but I will see how I feel on my way home worst case I will do something on ON Demand or a DVD if I don't do the gym.

I've been talking to this new guy and my focus is on that so I am slipping and trippin' I will get back on track this Saturday my energy is really low during TOM anyway and my weekdays are sooo busy. He is a trooper he gets up at 5am to workout! I am thinking Monday, Wed, Friday I should do an early workout and come to work late b/c I need to get at least 2 days in during the week... Ahhh well we'll see!!!

Hey Sistas,

Been lazy this week - no workout on Monday, Tuesday MY tom hit and it was just a baaaad day

Did walk every morning, but we're in the middle of our crazy season in Admissions (I work for an MBA program) so no lunchtime walks. I have eaten better this week, so I've lost a couple of pounds, but I feel sluggish. Gotta get back out on the street and walk at lunch today and tomorrow.

Having a SistaGirl dinner with friends on Friday, so probably no workout that evening, but I'll go to the gym Saturday and Sunday to help catch up.

Everybody check in!

Mornin' Sistas,

Didn't make it to the gym on Saturday, but did take a couple of long walks. Did something to strain a muscle on my left side - deep breaths and stretching hurt, but I kept moving.

Sunday was a lazy day - my side hurt really bad, so I took it easy. Today is another story - up with the birds this morning, walked the DDog with my DD. Back to the gym tonight, planning to hit the treadmill and maybe the elliptical machine as well.

Have a terrific day!

Checking in...

Walked at work during lunch yesterday - felt good to get out in the sunshine! Made it to the gym last night and switched up my workout to all aerobics.

I had been concentrating on weights and building muscle, but when walking up the stairs from my train station, I noticed I was out of breath - not dangerously so, but more than I would like. That said, I've switched over to all aerobics for the next 3 weeks prior to my surgery.

So - 20 minutes on the 'ArcTrainer' - a different type of elliptical trainer. I felt it in my legs and my butt. Exactly where I WANT to feel it, so I'll continue with that machine. I'll also alternate with the other elliptical that involves your arms so I get a balanced workout.

Then I did 30 minutes on the treadmill - averaged 2.6 mph, and varied the incline from .5 to 2.0. I started out at 2.8 mph, but my heart rate went a little crazy so I slowed down. I had a bad episode with an irregular heartbeat and actually passed out on a treadmill over a year ago, so I'm careful about my heart rate.

Looking forward to keeping it going over the next 3 weeks until my surgery date, and then getting back in the groove as soon as the doc clears me. I know I can walk right after surgery, but I'll take the gym activities a little slower until I know how I've been affected.

Go Trina! Go Trina! Do that thang, Do it!:)

Worked out Tuesday night in my aerobic combination - 30 minutes on the ArcTrainer, 25 on the treadmill. I vary the incline on the treadmill from .5 up to 2 and then back down (avoids some of the boredom).

I'm planning to start the Couch-to-5K program after I have my surgery. I've always wanted to run a race, but never had the gumption. Plus, I'm heavy-chested and couldn't find a good sports bra to harness the "girls". Once I'm banded, I hope to lose a little in the chest (but not too much) so that I can get a good sports bra and run some. I don't know if my knees will take the running, but I'm gonna give it a shot!

No workout on Wednesday - it's my day off. Will be back in the gym tonight after work. No need to rush home - DD is working, DH is going to the flight simulator (he's a private pilot), so I'll be on my own for dinner. I'll go home and eat something good for me - protein!

Monday is the 2 week mark prior to surgery, so I'll be switching over to a primarily liquid diet to help me prepare. Two Protein shakes during the day, with a regular meal w/family for dinner. I hope to lose another 10 lbs before my surgery.

Keep up the good work sistas! Let's keep the 30 day challenge going!:)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
