Hi--

I've been doing okay on the pre-op diet but tried something tonight that may or may not be okay but it was a one time thing. I had a cup of homemade white chili. We used skinless/boneless chicken breasts, FF chicken broth, green chiles, and northern Beans. I only had the broth with a few Beans in it and chiles. I froze the rest in small batches to use post-surgery and puree with my magic bullet.

So, do you think that was okay? It seems like low-fat Protein to me.

Thanks,

Anne

hey jmignott I'm sure why your doctor does not require a liquid diet. My doctor said it is to shrink the liver for surgury.this is not an easy thing being on liquids for 14 days so be thankful you are not having to do it.

Every doctor is different. My doctor was actually a little upset when I told him that I didn't have any questions at the last visit because I'd been online researching. I reassured him that I understood that each doctor requires different things and that I would follow his protocol.

Stupid me! When I got my date (10/31), I asked Dr. what to eat between then and the 2 wk. liquid diet. He said to lose as much as possible, which I took to mean I could start sooner, which I did. So I'm on Day 10 of 3 wks. Sigh. Yes, it's hard!!!! Twelve days to go, and no way to re-decide what to do. I'm glad I found this forum so I can try some of your ideas.

Anyone else on Halloween so we can compare notes?

Lambgram--watermum is. I have a list posted under "October Bandsters" under this forum and then there is a sub-forum under "2008" then "October". Just scroll down through your forum choices and you'll find it. I'm sure there are others out there too!

So, how much have you lost? I've lost about 8 lbs in just over four days--amazing.

Boy am I with you! I am on day 5 and ready to kill someone also. My husband has gotten out the whip and the chair to keep me at bay. I don't sleep well and am just miserable. My Dr. office said I can have anything I can sip through a straw. I do Protein Shakes and coffee, etc. I ahve to get in 70 grams of Protein, 60-80 grams of carbs and between 800 and 1000 calories daily. The protein will keep your hair from falling out. Make sure you get that much in...maybe it will help your hunger. This is not easy is it? I think I could suck a cheeseburger through a straw at this point. My surgery is October 29th.

I've lost 9 lbs, but not getting enough food. I added the egg to a vanilla cream Atkins shake this a.m and a sprinkle of fresh nutmeg and that was the most satisfaction I've had in days. I decided to actually count Proteins today and try to get down more than the 50 or so grams I've been averaging. How many Advantage drinks should we have per day?

Aloha Linda, The vanilla Adkins is 150 calories, the whey Protein I use ( 1 scoop) is 80 calories. That gives me 240 calories and 33 grams of protein for one meal. If I do 3 a day, that gives me 720 calories and 99 grams of protein. Now, I know the protien and calorie requirements vary with our doctors, so please follow your doctors recomendations. I have never been hungry when I use this formula, most often I only add the additional protein to the first 2 meals of the day, the 3rd shake still gives me 15 more grams of protien, making it 81 grams of protien for the day, and then I add in a Soup if I just want a different taste. I also workout diligently everyday, I walk 1 mile and swimming aerobics for 2 hours. I just added the walking last month. I will see the results when I go in on the 28th of this month. I delibertly haven't weighed myself, because for me I don't want the numbers to discourage me. I feel better then I have in years, the swimming really limbered me up, to be able to walk, and the exercise has also cut my appetite. I feel like a racing horse, with blinders on, I will not let anything or anyone stop me from reaching my goal. I'm 58, 5' 9'', last weighed in at 301 pounds, goal 150. We can do this, find your niche and go for it ! I'm rooting for us, and so are 100's of people on this site.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
