Anyone In The Beaumont/baytown Area?

Recommended Posts

I'm a bundle of nerves!

My surgery was set for the 27, but I was able to move it up to tomorrow! That will be great for giving me more time to recover before starting back to school (I'm a teacher), but it threw me into a tizzy of getting everything (mainly my head) ready.

I've been alternately giddy with excitement, crying, scared, enthusiastic...you name the emotion and I have felt it.

This has GOT to work! I had to pay for it myself and it was a huge sacrifice. I read about the people that are unhappy or feeling awful and that worries me. Everything else has failed in the past. I can't bear the thought of people seeing me fail again!

I went out and bought my blender and Jello, Gas-X, Flinstones, etc., along with "survival" food for my husband to keep him going until I feel like cooking foods I can't eat. The checkout guy must have thought I was nuts.

Please say prayers, send good vibes & positive thoughts my way!

Colleen

I live in Silsbee as well. LuAnn and I work together. We had our surgery done on the same day with Dr. Spivak in Houston. Kind of the buddy thing.... It is funny that there are so many simularites in all of us. Kellimoos my parents have a home on Toledo Bend as well. Nice place up there. Good luck to all the future banders!

Hello everyone,

I went to Dr. Spivak on 9-2-05 for my first visit. I am a self-pay and have almost all my money together. I hope that I will be having the surgery soon! I am in the Crosby area near Baytown.......so a support group there would be great! I am not banded yet but would love to still attend.......could I come???

Plus.....any advise for me would be great!

Greeting to everyone!

I didn't realize so many of us from Silsbee, Spurger, Buna are out there. I'd love to have a closer support group than Port Neches, even though I'd probably go to that one when I could. I work in Beaumont and try to go but haven't been able to so far. As I said, I have been banded 1 year on 3/7 and have now lost 49lbs. That Valentines Day fill jumped me back off. I am so glad. If y'all can, lets get together maybe on Saturday or Sunday and put a face to the typing. LOL. talk to y'all later. Karen

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
