New Cosmetic Surgery with questions

Recommended Posts

Hi there! Well - one year after being banded, I got my apron removed, breasts lifted and augmented 4 weeks ago on Sept 8th. Well the doctor gave me enough strong painkillers for 2 weeks, a lesser one the 3rd week and said to take ibuprofen after that - which isn't doing the job. For the past 5 days I have been very nauseas and have vomited nearly every time I eat anything - which as you know isn't easy with the Lap Band. I am worried that it may hurt the lap band.

My question is this: is it ok to request painkillers from the doctor? How long have others been on it?

Being nauseas - has anyone else experienced this weeks after surgery?

You should not be in pain or nauseas! Of course it is ok to call your doctor - that is what he/she is there for. Nothing wrong with taking painkillers if you have pain.

I had an LBL and BL w/o implants, so I'm not sure how my surgery compares to yours, but I got my meds refilled 2 or 3 times. I think I took it longer than what I've read most folks here indicate, but I did take less as time went on. For example, after the first 2 weeks, I would take it after I got home from work and at bedtime so it would be worn off when I had to drive the next morning. I would use ibuprofen in the day. In another week or so I was down to bedtime and shortly thereafter only as needed. Occasionally I still need it, but at 8 weeks out, I rarely take any now. I had more trouble sleeping after a few weeks than pain, so I took a sleeping pill a little longer than the pain pills, but I'm sleeping better now without it.

Thank you for your replies...it helps. I don't know why I am so resistant to pushing them a little instead of just saying "ok" when they give me an answer. I feel very wimpy and winy lately - and I am usually the one saying "cowboy up"

I had surgery on September 9 - don't try to be the tough guy. Get the drugs - I am taking one percocet in the evenings and sometimes in the morning and supplementing with advil when needed during the day. I can get through my daily pretty well this way - when I tried to go without I was miserable.

I have also had really bad nausea and got a heartburn medication prescribed (which I take once a day) and an antinauseal as needed (I have taken it about 5 times since I got out of hospital on September 18).

Take care of yourself!!

Jacquie

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
