Saying Goodbye to Old Friends...

Recommended Posts

Fall weather is almost here, at least where I live, and it got me to thinking about my summer clothes. I've been wearing the same size for two years, and I was bound and determined to not go up to next size, regardless of how uncomfortable my clothes had become. I was also having trouble buying new clothes in that size because, well, mine had most probably stretched at the seams a little, so finding replacements was becoming increasingly difficult.

So, farewell, old faithful clothes. I'll not be seeing you next summer!! :)

Kiz,

you better be saying good bye "Forever" to those clothes, because this time next year, you will be a skinny lady!! Wooohoooo!!!:)

LOL...Liz, they're outa here!! Well, not quite yet. I can't believe I've lost 20 lbs, and they still fit pretty well. EEK, I must have really been pouring myself into them. :)

I've got an enormous pile of "too big" clothes in my bedroom right now...It's hard to say goodbye to some of my faves. I have some stuff in my closet that I bought last winter that I'll never get to wear :)

Oh well....shopping here I come!

Yes, Sherri, it is a little bittersweet. There are a few things I really loved, but I can't wait to be too small for them. I was at the mall today, and I was so excited at the prospect of actually finding clothes that fit, without all the hassle and gnashing of teeth.

It is a little bitter sweet at first, then when you slip on something you never thought you'd ever wear that all goes away. I mourned my old "fabulous fatgirl" wardrobe just until I realized how easy it is to shop now. The best part is, I havent shopped at LB for a year!

BTW: I sold all of my old ensembles on Craigslist.

Good luck to all of you Sept bandsters!

I've already boxed up the size 22s and 20's I've been wearing. I'm firmly in a size 18W now, and can get into a 16w pretty well. My stomach still aches in them, so I stay baggy yet. I'm only 2 weeks post op.

I have thought about the very same thing. Actually, a couple of my girlfriends told me on the day after my surgery that they both have first chance at my old clothes!! I thought that was funny, yet very encouraging.

Thanks chocolate snaps for the good wishes!! I've had so much inspiration from reading the Sep 07 forum, and daydreaming about where I'll be a year from now.

terilynn, you are doing so well! I can't believe you're down so many sizes. I just can't wait to get down one size! haha My clothes are feeling a little baggy, but not enough to get into something smaller.

It sounds like you have supportive friends, ANKPTA, and/or they LOVE your wardrobe!! How encouraging though, that your friends are rooting for you.

I did an incredible amount of step aerobics pre op. That really helped... am having trouble getting back into it.... my stomach muscles are weak again.

I have a friend that is an excellent seamstress I am going to get some of my clothes taken in when I lose weight. Not all of them just the ones I spent a lot of money on and still really like. I will ask myself weather its cheaper to replace the item or cheaper to get it altered.

I also have a box of clothes in my shed that should fit as I hit my half way point. I bought them once when I lost weight on Atkins and didnt have the heart to get rid of them when I gained it all back (plus some). I even have the box marked with what I need to weigh to wear them lol

I am officially down a size! I was originally busting out of my 22's and 3x's weren't any to big. I have my 10yr high school reunion next weekend and wanted something new to wear, so I ordered 2x and size 20 (plus) from Old Navy and they fit and I actually have room!!! I am well on my way to 18's and 1x!! Yeah, I am excited. Just wish my thighs would shrink some more though...that was the only place they were snug.

WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you... I started out in 22W, lost enough to get in to 20's and some 18W's pre op. Now I'm firmly in 18 with room to spare, and 16wWs I can wear, but my pulled muscle gets angry in them. It feels so good!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
