What a wonderful concept! Today I am thankful for the life God gave me. He meant for it to be prosperous and healthy and I thank Him for showing me the way to find that again.

This is a small POSITIVE in the grand scale of things, but my rings have not been tight at night since I started this process. In the past, there would be evenings I had to struggle to get my rings off, due to swelling, and that's never a problem now.

What a great thread!

Well medical advances are what I am thankful for. I had Laser Eye Surgery last year and I was really blind as a bat. No really, I couldn't even tell that my cat was on the floor and I would often accidently step on her. But not any more. I can see 15/20 and every day when I drive to work I count my blessings, because I can really see.

This year, I am hopefully having banding surgery and I am thankful for the chance to improve my health. Next year, I am getting braces to straighten out my teeth.

I am really grateful for medical improvements and insurance coverage that allows me to take advantage of these techniques. :cool2:

Tquad---I think you should also be thankful you had your eye surgery done first, if you got banded and braced first, you might have never recognized yourself!!!

I think it is wonderful that you are taking such charge of your life!!GO YOU!!!

great thread~

i'm grateful that i'm going to be running my first 5k on saturday. a yr ago, the only chance you'd see me running is if i was being chased & even then i'd stop & trip the person rather than exhaust myself.

i believe i'm extending & improving my life each day AND can appreciate the small stuff rather than let it exhaust me.

I'm positive today........

I'm getting healthy not only for me but, for my grandbabies, DH and family. I have faith that I'll see them do all sorts of fantastic things. My only DD (36yrs. old) will be getting her Master's next March and I have faith that I'll see her march across that stage.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
