PLEASE HELP ME , I NEED YOUR TIPS,Who Did it in Mexico, I knew none of this

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am more then a year out. I had my surgery in Mexico, where I live. It was not until today that I ever thought to google anything about the Lapband.

4 days ago I began having a problem. I THOUGHT it was my first one until I cam here.

Over the last 4 days I have not been able to hold ANYTHING down. Not any food or liquids. I have not had a fill for 6 mo so that is not the problem.

I googled and found this site, The more I read the more I fill I am in BIG TROUBLE You all seem to know much more about all of this then me. I had the surgery and went home. I throw up 2-3 times during every meal. Let;s face it, Most of us had the surgery because we have an addiction to food. That addiction did not go away, I am still addicted I am just not able to eat as much. I ALWAYS push the limits and try to eat more then I should so I throw up. After 2-3 times I just give up.

MY BIG PROBLEM is I feel like I have missed out on important tips to help me. I read that some of you walk around to stop the feeling. WHAT MAKES ME SCARED IS MANY OF YOU DO NOT THROW UP AT ALL, I THOUGHT WE ALL DID.

PLEASE HELP ME, PLEASE SEND ME AS MANY TIPS TO LIVING WITH THIS AS POSSIBLE i HAVE BEEN ON MY OWN THROUGH ALL OF THIS AND I AM SICK OF THROWING UP

Wow, I am surprised with all of the throwing up that your band has not slipped. You have been lucky if it hasn't. I would recommend finding a doctor and go see him immediately.

Call your DOCTOR!!!!!!! even if he is in Mexico, he will want to know your issues!!!!! From that point he may even have affiliations with a us doc to have further testing done.

For sure you need to be sipping liquids slowly.... not gulping to where you are burping it back up.

CALL YOU DR NOW

If you are over a year out it is time to do you yearly check up where they check you out under x-ray.So you need to schedule that with a doctor here or return to your doctor in Mexico.I can not even imagine going that long without seeing one of my two doctors.I too would not be surprise if you had a slip band from pushing past full and possible stretching the pouch.Maybe you should go to full liquids until you see a doctor,if you have slipped sometimes they can unfill you for awhile and it will go back.My second thought is you have not slipped at all because you have always ate past full and then you throw up.

I had a problem eating at night,I would wake up and go eat two or three times in the night until was so full I threw up not good know but I knew that too.I wake up at night now but I do not eat now I just get a drink and back to bed and I do not throw up any more.

You could have a slip or you could be just irritated. The key is to stop eating anything . . . only take in liquids for a few days to start. Call your doctor immediately for advice. You probably should get a partial/full unfill as soon as possible.

Just so you know, I had this happen recently where I kept throwing up at each meal, it kept getting worse until my stomach closed and I could get nothing down. I then had to go for an emergency unfill. It was like a snowball effect, I would eat, throw up, try again a few hours later, throw up again and it continued on and on. Even by going on liquids, it did not help me because my stomach was just too irritated. This happened out of nowhere . . . but was not caused by overeating and throwing up at every meal. I just got stuck really bad and had a problem from there. It only took 4 days from being stuck to not being able to ingest liquids.

When I went to my last fill, the nurse said that if this ever starts again, definitely go on Clear Liquids for a couple of days and take some liquid ibuprofen (motrin) which you can get for children. She said that it is not good to take ibuprofen on a regular basis for a bandster but in an emergency situation, it will reduce the inflammation and help your stomach adjust. If you want to try this, I would ask your doctor first because most doctors say no ibuprofen.

Throwing up every meal is not healthy and if you continue this binge & purge behavior, there is a really good chance you will lose your band.

Please take care of yourself and if you need help, don't be afraid to seek it. We all have addictions or we wouldn't be here, we all have to face them and the first step is admitting it and seeking help from a professional and/or developing a support network. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Get into a doctor and get unfilled right away. You are risking severe dehydration if you can't keep any liquids down, and it can kill you.

If you can't get into your own doctor, whoever that may be, try the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. I know they do fills and unfills on other doctors' patients; cost is $100 with fluoroscopy. Their number from Mexico is (664) 684 95 05 or from the US 1-866-376-7849.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
