Hard lumps in two places 1 week after surgery...what could it be?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Sept. 18th and I am feel hard lumps in two places! My largest cut is in the middle right below my bra line. My second largest cut is several inches lower and to the left. I thought my port was supposed to be placed below my breastbone and at the cut that is right below my bra line there is a hard lump maybe the size of a marble. But at the cut that is lower and to the left there is a HUGE, hard bump maybe the size of an egg. When I lay down you can actually see the bump. Why would I have two hard bumps?! The only one that is sore is the larger bump so I kind of figured that was the port, but really I don't know. Anyone else have anything like this?

You may need to call your md. Especially if they didnt forwarn you about that.

I had the same thing. I was banded on 7-16-08 and I have hard lumps under my incisions and they are still there but going down now, my physician said it's scar tissue and it will go away with time.

I just got banded Wednesday, and my surgeon said that we need to realize that the tools they use in durgery really manipulate the skin, and the tissue underneath the skin. I too have a large cut under my left breast area, and it has a HUGE ball type feel to it. I was told its scar tissue, and to take it easy, not a lot of bending, and to use vaseline to help it not scar too badly. But realize our stomach area was manipulated in every which way, and quiet frankly, doctors just do their job, not really being easy on the skin, thats why when we wake up from surgery, we feel like a MAC truck has rolled over our tummy. So, call your doc and tell them how you feel, but thats what the post op visit is for as well, and they check those things out.

It sounds like scar tissue in both areas which will eventually become smaller. I am three weeks out of surgery and I found out the hard way that the larger "egg" size bump will first bruise really badly and eventually go down in size. Mine is now the size of a golf ball and I am hoping it will go down further. I wish my doctor had given me this info before I panicked. Hope this info helps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
