I am curious about my upcoming surgery on July 12 - how many of you had a catheter? If you did, was it removed before your awoke, or was it still in place after you were in your hospital room/recovery room?

I am more nervous about that than I am about some other aspects of the surgery! LOL - why? I don't know.....:)

I had a catheter and it was removed the following morning. This is not the case for everyone. Ask your doctor about his preference.

he girl,

i also had a catheter, like you i was dead set against have one...hell no i said, but when i woke up, all i could think was, OMG, god bless the catheter. When you wake up, your not going to want to move, let alone get up and go to the bathroom!

Just had my surgery yesterday and no catheter. They said since the procedure was so short I didn't need one. They made me go pee right as I was walking into the operating room and no catheter.

Okay, I did have a rough 2:00 in the morning need to go pee and it was a bit tough to get up, but in all, I'm glad no catheter.

The only reason I know I had one is because I was warned before surgery, but it was removed before I ever returned to my room. No problems.

they put one in after i was already unconscious... and then when i was coming out of anesthesia i remember somebody sayin they were taking it out... but i was 1/2 conscious...

so it was great that way...

I was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. I did not wake up with a catheter and so if there was one, it had to have been put in and taken out during the time I was under anesthesia. But I really think I never had one. And by the way, I got up and walked within minutes of waking up.

I didn't have one...They just had me pee before going in :) I guess it's your Dr's preference. Maybe you could ask not to have one.

Mine was done at an outpatient center. No cath. I went to the bathroom before they took me to the O.R. the only thing I had was an IV, blood pressure cuff, and the thing on my finger to messure blood oxygen and these strange leg stockings. They velcroed around my legs and they inflate and deflate (similar to blood pressure cuff) to sort of massage your legs and prevent clots.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
