First 2 or 3 Cheats in 24hrs. 11 days Post Op

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just wondering what people think. I am 11 days post op, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. I felt yesterday like I wanted to try a small piece of a piece of pizza. It seemed to go down well, then today tried a small piece of bagel. Then I decided to go on LBT.com and read that even though everything felt like it went okay, it is not a good idea, as it makes your stomach work, possibly when it's not ready to. Ut ohhh.

Does anyone think that damage could have been done just in that 24 hr. period. I have been scared back into the full liquid stage as I want this experience to be a positive one all the way through.

Thanks,

Kdog:crying:

Just folllow your diet from here on out and hope it didn't! It will just depend on how much your internal sutures had already healed. you'll probably be ok if you just follow your doc's time line from here on out.

Hey ever MD is different in the instructing that they want us to follow, I was banded on August 21st, and I was on clear the first day and for the follow 2 week it was full liquids, I had no problem following this because I had post op swelling, but after the two weeks I was allowed just about any soft food i could tolerate. if you have question talk with your surgeon,I would assume that if something happened you would have signs to let you know

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
