Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm 30 years old and weighted 225 when I started my journey back in Oct. of 2007. I live in southeastern Ohio and I had my surgery done by Dr. Canaday at Holzer Weight Loss Solutions .I finally got the ok from my insurance after jumping through hopes to have my surgery done. I had my surgery just 4 days ago and doing great. A little sore but it is surgery.

Hi Amanda, and welcome to LBT! I had surgery just a couple of weeks ago too. I'm glad you're doing so well at four days out. What are you able to drink? I had no problems with my Protein Shakes, in fact, I liked mine. lol

You'll find a lot of helpful information on this board. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Someone will have the answer.

Maybe this is why I need a band. I liked them all, at least the ones my doctor recommended.

For the week after surgery, though, he really wanted us to stick with Carnation instant Breakfast No Sugar in the blue box, mixed with one cup of skim milk plus 1/3 cup Non Fat Dry Milk mix for extra Protein. I mixed mine in my Magic Bullet with a little crushed ice.

I also drank Boost for diabetics and Unjury before banding.

I am like you.....I liked the Carnation Instant Breakfast too. I was to mix mine with 16oz of skim milk. I would add ice too. On the days I added ice and blended it, I felt as though it filled me up more.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
