Calling all March 05 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Let's see...banded March 30. Started 238 and currently at 165. I have 15 more pounds to goal. I run a few days a week and am pretty active. I can't say that I am the healthiest eater but I try to generally live by the bandster rules. Has anyone noticed the more weight you lose the tipsier one glass of wine gets you?

I'm at 2.3 fill. No golf balls, no reflux...the snoring never went away (the boyfriend is kind enough not to admit to the snoring). I'm enjoying fluctuating between an a size 8 and a 10 right now with no real interest in a size six. Also wondering if I want to ultimately do a Tummy Tuck since I have a big ole bag of kangaroo pounch called my tummy.

Actually enjoyed tying my bra in the back for a while and complaining about it (perverse I know but hey!)...finally gave up the 14, and hesitantly gave up the 12's. Now I don't even entertain anything less than a size 10 (I actually hvae a size six skirt...can you say forgiving?) I actually went shopping at BeBe's the other day (which doesn ot have plus size) and bought a little sexy top.

I find myself still having mental fat days, but I know I work out so much (for pleasure not just for weight loss) that I realize i'm really being silly and a bit over the top. I enjoy the whistles (sometimes I whistle back). I enjoy seeing my face without the double chin...love the way the boyfriend loves me in 'those pants'...and some other things!

I still have a Protein shake in the mornings (its easier for morning tightness). I like knowing that Kip (my band's name) stops me when I feel the full symptoms and I've been trained well enough to stop.

Played a full 1 hour game of dodgeball. Can't say that I could have done that when I was a size 18. The band has changed - and possibly saved my life - and I encourage anyone, no matter what race to consider it as a viable weight loss option. I'm up to a nice 2 mile run in the morning, with plans to run the corporate challenge in the near future. I still hate crunches but I love the motown spin class at NYSC.

To say I'm loving my walk with the band is an understatement. How are you guys faring?

Gypj,

Hey there, girl you look great!!! It has been a slow weight loss for me but I am slowly moving down the scale. The best thing is that even though my scale doesnt move as much as I would like my clothes size does. I went from a size 26 down to an 18. So I am happy about that. I am gonna keep on trying though cause I'd like to see a perfect size 12 and I would be happy.

Congratulations on your walk so far. It wasn't easy for me initially. I lost almost no weight, but the dropped clothes sizes like crazy. I didn't really start to lose actual weight for a while. I was CONVINCED it wasn't working. Inches count as much as D's on a grade report card. Take heart...It gets better.

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've been on the board, if you asked me what happened..it's called Life's been happening... To date I have only lost 60lbs, I have slowed down to practically nothing. My food is not as clean as it use to be, but I went from a size 26/28 to 18, so I am blessed!

gypj,

I remember seeing you on the board and really struggling in the beginning, WOW look at you now. I read in a Weight Lost magazine that bandsters "window of weight lost opportunity" never closes. I'm filled to about 1.75cc and I should get more and I will, it's just that I don't like that stuck feeling, then I have to relieve myself,,,and you probably all know what I have to do...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
