Hello All!

I'm officially banded as of yesterday!!!! I can't believe it's done and now the real fun begins :) But, I didn't get an xray to make sure everything went ok....did any of you experience that?

Are you sure they didn't do it while you were still asleep? The reason I ask you is because I am a scrub

nurse, and when we do surgeries, we usually check the patient before we awake them, just in case we have to make any changes!

An x-ray really isn't going to show anything, but look at the band for mere curiousity. It's there. No use in exposing yourself to additional radiation. Unless there is a reason for an x-ray, a physician isn't going to do that routinely.

Great job!! Well, I think I'm doing fine but then I pick up the pace a bit and then it hits me that I have some not so pleasant pain coming from my abdomen. It's like I'm trying to do everything I did before yesterday and realizing that I really can't yet. I have a little gas pain but nothing major...thank goodness!!

Some patients have fluorscopy done the day after surgery and when they get thier fills. My doctor does not do that. For all the newbies welcome aboard lapband journey!! Just remember not to overdo the first few days after surgery and walk....walk...walk!!! That will relieve the gas pains. Also make sure you drink your water!!! I also use GasX strips when the gas was unbearable. Another trick that a friend who had the surgery told me was when and if you get nausea sniff on some peppermint tea....it really works!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

I got banded 8/18/08 and had no kind of xrays or anything but when I called to make my post op appt they told me they would have me go to hospital and get the upper GI to make sure band was in place. I was told they quit doing it after surgery because so many people were getting sick from the drink you have to drink. I go in on 9/25/08 to make sure everything is ok. Hope this helps and Good Luck

I had a "thin swallow" test before I was released from the hospital to make sure I wasn't aspirating etc. My doc does that with ALL his patients, regardless of the surgery (bypass or band) and whether or not they "think" they are fine (i had finished 36 ounces of Water before my test)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
