Anyone from Virginia Beach?

Recommended Posts

Would love to chat. Considering Lap Band in Virginia Beach. Tricare standard. Only a few docs with good recs on the Lap Band list for my area.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm using Norfolk Surgical Group and Dr Wolgemuth. He was highly recommended by my Gastro doctor, as his surgeon.

I live in the Dam Neck/General Booth area.

Blessings,

Joanna

Hi Joanna,

I'm in the Mount Trashmore area, I'm heading your way this morning though. I have to go to city hall. I'm going to the seminar held by NSG on the 6th and well I'm still thinking, I know I want the lap band and I know I want a really good surgeon that's done a lot of them. I'm at 57 BMI, and I don't even want to hear about the RNY bypass... Well I hope you have a great day.

I'm going with Dr. Terracina in Newport News. I thought a lot about NSG, but I liked the amount of experience with the band they have at WLSC. I'm on my way though I've already made a few appointments and gotten my insurance information. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate all the information I can get. I'm looking at a long road ahead but I'm positive!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
