Hydrocodone after surgery???

Recommended Posts

I have heard some people say that it's bad to take tylenol & asprin after surgery. I get severe migranes and regularly take Hydrocodone 7.5/750...would this be included as a drug to stay away from??

Whenever I take my pills... I usually only take 1/2 at a time and chew them before swollowing them. What complications does taking Hydrocodone (vicodin) after lapband surgery cause ??

Thanks!

Most of the medicines you are to stay away from cause irratation to the lining of your stomach... leading to errosion.

You may want to talk to your band Dr, to see what s/he thinks.

also, you might want to take the meds with milk (if you can) since that will help coat the pouch. One of the other things to do is to drink a large glass of Water after taking the meds to help wash them out and down.

I break them in half but I don't chew them. (shudders at the thought)

I got liquid hydrocodone before my banding & althought didn't need it that much, I was nice to know I had it, & when I used it, was great. It was also very useful for the plane ride home. Maybe that's why I don't remember the trip home!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
