Somethin pokin me!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,Im in need of a lil advice please.Im exactly 3 weeks out and am experiencing somethin feelin like a poke to my right rib area, not exactly where the port is but close.Driving and sitting is uncomfortable,it feels like somethins in there that wants out.I walk around stick straight and leaning to the left, like I need to make more room on my right side so I wont feel that "poke feeling".When I lay down,it goes away.Is this normal,I thought that thing was going to be all tucked into stuff and I wouldnt feel it every time I sat down/slouched or bent over. Please respond.........

Gall Bladder. Stones, or a non-functioning gall bladder cause swelling. It feels like "something is stuck" in there. Just not quite right. VERY VERY VERY common during weight loss. Ask your Dr. for a gall bladder ultraound to check for stones, and a HIDA scan to check the function of it.

How did you get them to move your port? Did your dr suggest that? Did they go in like for the initial surgery? How long was the recovery time for that? I'm about 9 weeks out and still have that problem, however, dr says my port is "a little high". He was only concerned about infection and when there was none, he was satisified and didn't tell me that he could move the port or, for that matter, that there was anything to be done except it may get better as I lose some weight! So, in the meantime, I can't lift, bend, or walk over a mile at a time or it starts hurting and I have to lay down or stretch out to make it go away.

I am having the same problem, my surgery was on June 16th. Next Tuesday Sept 16th I am having a CT scan to see what is going on. My surgeon has mentioned port revision. We shall see

But I do understand totally, I compensate for it poking my rib by leaning, stretching and generally rearrange myself :cool2: Good luck!

Is port revision the same as going in and moving the port? Let me know if that's what your dr decides to do and how it goes.

IM LORI - I don't know if you were asking me, but my port is on the left side, right under my ribs and off to the side a little bit. And mine can't be my gallbladder, since I don't have one anymore. I believe it is the port rubbing on my rib...ouch!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
