I would assume right away? I took B/C the whole way through. Although I have an IUD...but that is still sending out hormones like the pill does.

yeah, mine is a pill. they requested that we stop it a few weeks before surgery. but...i would think its ok, now, also. i would ask the doctor but that won't be until monday and SUNDAY is the perfect day to start it unless i wait a month and i don't want to do that lol.

It's to help prevent blood clots and they can be an issue for a while post op.

That DEGirl, the pill is notorious for making women more prone to blood clots, which I'm sure you know! Perhaps each patient is different; since KristyLynn's doc asked her to stop it, (understanding how important it is that she not get pregnant right away) it's probably for a good reason, and she should clear with him before she goes back on it!

Really!? I wasn't telling her to go back on it, I was telling her *my* experience. Thanks for your input anyway.

I was also told that I didn't have to stop taking mine. The only thing that they have patients stop at my surgeons practice, is blood thinners.

Did you have the heparin shots before/after surgery? Perhaps that makes a difference?

I'm not a doctor...just throwing out ideas.

Like the PP....I think that your docs word should be given on whether or not you start. Having a Monday start instead of Sunday wouldn't make much difference....

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
