I am so very happy to hear that you are doing well and that you both are taking steps to fix your relationships. You know my grandmother always tells me, that us modern girls give up too soon on a good thing. She says if something is worth fighting for and fixing, why throw it away and start again. YOu might end up with alot worse. She says women now adays want everything the easy way and that we don't want to compromise on anything. Well in part I think at her 90 years she is right, its just that selfish part of me that sometimes doesn't agree. But every relationship is different and difficult, we all have to work at it, and when its worth working for, well more power to you, when its already rotting and can't be fixed then and only then throw it away. Just my 2 cents worth. But I admire John for going to counseling w/ you, my husband and I have been attending counseling 2x a month and it has helped, its not all happiness yet, but some issues are getting resolved. Wishing you all the luck of the world. Love you bunches Penni.

Good luck Penni everything will go good for you because your a good hearted person!!

Esmeralda this statement made me think of that Tammy Wynnette song I think it was hers.

"You're a good hearted woman, in love with a two timing man!" Remember that song or am I showing my age. LOL!!!

Anyway, thanks guys. Counseling is the good first step to fixing anything that is wrong in a relationship. Estela my grandmother used to tell me the same thing that we give up too easily. I stuck with my 11 year marriage 5 years longer than I should have because I didn't want to give up. He cheated on me with my best friend. So some of this is coming up in the counseling. John is so supportive and is wanting to work through all this. He said that it kills him with tears in his eyes to see me so HURT by all this. AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

I just love this man and I am gonna fight for this relationship and it appears he is too.

I really know how hard a break up is I just went through one last week, but hey I am a true believer that "Everything happens for a reason". I was with him for 2 years and it wasnt working out, he said that I expected to much from him, oh and also he wanted kids and I already had 2 and I don't want any more!!

Good luck Penni!!

Thanks for your phone number I will be giving you a call!

This is interesting that you said this…My ex-husband would never trust me, "without trust I have nothing" I would tell him and the marriage counselor. He stated he was cheated on by his first wife and how could he ever trust again. I didn't want to admit I made a mistake marring him…than I just couldn't take all the accusations anymore, I didn't do anything with anybody (this was just my situation) but it's hard when it happens twice....

Another thing that marriage counselor would say is that we have to argue. I hate to argue, can't stand it even now. Billy and I talk allot but I refuse to argue.

We all have baggage…from childhood even. I tell myself get over it, move on. Crap and get off the pot!

I'll be the first person to admit I'm not the easiest person to live with.

Finding oneself is hard enough to do…Please think of yourself as #1

Good luck to both of you

Love and Hugs

Penni,

Thanks for the update and I'm glad things are getting brought out in the open with the counselor. Hopefully that is just exactly what you guys needed to make your lives together work. Best wishes, Teresa

Penni....I am so happy that there now seems to be a renewed life and sense of hope in your relationship. That is so wonderful. I truly believe in the power of counseling and of having an impartial, objective third party to help you through things. My husband and I have had rocky times more than once in our 2 1/2 year marriage, but we love each other too much to throw it away. I wish you and John all the best.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
