Debbie....Welcome to LBT. So glad you found us. I was born in Laurel, MD. I love it there. My dad always called me "The Original Maryland Crabcake", because I don't do mornings...shall we say...very well...LOL.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date. That is wonderful. The time will fly and it will be here in no time. Good luck with all of the pre-op testing. I know it can be tedious but it's also important.

Best of luck to you.

Hello ,

Thank you for welcoming me to LBT. Looking forward to posting my weight loss.

I live in Bowie,MD and seafood is a favorite, but the sacrifices we must make for beauty..lol. The crab population will reach its peeks this year, due to it being a no no for me...this summer. Is it possible to suffer from shrimp withdrawals? OLD BAY seafood seasoning could be my signature scent..lol

TAKE CARE

Debbie,

I am scheduled for June 30th! Also - you should be able to eat seafood this summer. My Dr. recommends it as one of the first solid foods to try. He suggested foods that swim - fly - walk. One month of protiens that swim, then the next month work in things that fly, poultry and then walk the third month, beef and pork.

I love crab and shrimp!!! oh, and lobster!!! There is a thread for June bandings, make sure you sign up if you haven't already.

good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
