SERIOUS ONLY: Giving up junk food.

Recommended Posts

I had a rice krispie treat today, actually 2 of em'.... I blew it the first day :D

I suck!

I need to be refilled a bit...goin to see Dr. Ortiz on the 20th of June. Does anyone notcie when they have restriction the little switch goes off and you do not obsess about food? Or is it just me. When I was filled at 2-2.5 my switch was off most of the time, now that I have no fill my switch is constantly on. It is amazing to me how having the right fill, your food obsession goes away. Tomorrow is a new day, I will try again....... NO JUNK FOOD!!!!! NO JUNK FOOD!!! NO JUNK FOOD!!!!

DeLarla,

I definetly need to be in on this, I am way out of control with junk. I need help too! I go for my first fill tomarrow. I'm pretty disgusted with myself, and am wondering if I'm even gonna lose any weight with my band because of the way I eat. I just got done eating a bag of the little chocolate covered donuts (I've absolutely lost my mind). I sure hope restriction will help me. After my fill I'll be on liquids for 2 days, maybe this will help get the junk out of my system.

Patty, fat and desperate~

And I thought this would be easy - banded and filled - can't eat as much and the weight comes off. Well guys, it's still work.....and hearing from all of you tells me that we all need to get in touch with why we went through this - there is no easy way.....this is just a help.....think the best way is to keep a food diary - to include all the stress Cookies I ate today, the cream in my coffee and the crab-cheese dip I had for Breakfast. Yes, the stuff goes down easy....but that not why we did this, IS IT? SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT - and make every day accountable.... START NOW! OK?

You are absolutely right Charlie, Support is key. I know if it were not for the poeple here who have given me the support I have needed along the way I would not be as successful as I have been. Being accountable is what helps me also, I am totally being accountable for eating those 2 dam rice krispie treats today. I did it, I had no willpower. It feels good to be truthful, cuz I know Iam not alone here in my struggle, we all battle the same demon.

For those who say the band is the easy way out, all I can say to them is they have no idea.

TOMORROW NO JUNK food

ok....not boasting here, but I am having the opposite problem. I am living off Starbucks and cigs. OK...tried tuna fish tonight and actually have kept it down. Everything comes up. So I stick with Water and Starbucks. Meatloaf? Grilled fish? Spagetti? All of it....PB'd. I haven't been doing my shakes but have lost about 20 pounds in the past month and have a heck of a cold and upper respiratory infection now. Need some Mothering here!!

Okay Tammy, you and I are neck and neck on the weight. I have been bouncing between 208 and 206 for at least a week. This morning, 207. Beat you to 199? I could live on coffee and Cigs...then I might have an upper respiratory infection! Oh, already have a bit of one of those. Pass the lighter!

Okay, I didn't go to exercise class, didn't drink my CIB (went to fix it, had run out and ate Jack's Holy Shredded Wheat instead) and I didn't eat a Lean Cuisine. Instead, I was Starvin' Marvin all evening. I nibbled on peanuts, had refrieds and salsa for dinner, with a fairly large turkey and cheese on toasted whole wheat with lettuce, onion, and pickle. Yummy.

SO, I ate way too much but none of it was complete, total, prepared, sugar-laden, utter junk food. It was actual food, unless you count the canned refrieds.

Tomorrow is Tuesday? well, well, well!!!

Delarla,

If you need to call me or you want a nightly or hourly call to keep the coke monster away e-mail me your number at crc2u@aol.com and I will gladly be your devil who whispers in your ear during those moments of weakness. I am great at being there for others not so good at doing it for myself.

But maybe being there for you will help me get back on track for my self.

I just went to the doctor and asked her if there's any new diet pill for night that won't keep you awake. ... Just think, you take it at 4:00 p.m. and buzz around scrubbing bathtubs, then suddenly at 10:00 p.m. you can't keep your eyes open and get a full 8 hour's rested sleep.
Warning: what follows is not a serious suggestion: Vicodin and other opiate pain killers usually reduce appetite, and definitely won't keep you awake. It was during a Vicodin period last winter that I made myself eat a Krispy Kreme because my daily calorie count was falling under 800. Of course, Vicodin might make you fall asleep during the day, think sloppily, walk around in an incoherent stupor, and become constipated and/or addicted. And I guess I should point out that Rush Limbaugh, last year's Vicodin poster boy, is no toothpick, so I guess he didn't have the same reaction.

Seriously, I wish I could join in this junk-food rejection. But I am perverse and if I start thinking that I am totally denied something, I will start craving it even if I didn't want it before the prohibition. But I am definitely ready to cut down on junk, even if I'm not ready for cold-turkey yet. Oops, wish I hadn't said turkey. . . wonder if there's any in the fridge. . .

Hi

My name is Vera

And I'm a Chocoholic!

The smell, the taste…be it Hershey's, Mars or 3 musketeers. Dark, light or milk chocolate. It has brought me down to a very low level.

I must quit cold turkey.

Today is a new day...I will not eat chocolate!

throw the cigs out and hand the starbucks coffee over to me, and no one will get hurt! just jokin. i have been doing okay..eatting with my eyes....and my stomach has been wanting to poke my eyes out for a few days. i don't think that im over eatting on junk, but i can still eat like a 3 ounce chicken breast, a cup of veggies and tonight i had a yogurt, then a cup of ice cream...Sugar free ice cream, but none the less, ice cream. i had a fill ohhh two weeks ago...i don't know if its time for another or what, but i am good alllll day long while im working then at night, the red eye food demon starts to stir.....and then lashes out at things...not bad things, yogurt is okay, but i feel like i am able to eat too much. I do feel the restriction....I have not pb'ed or anything, had one mini half stuck.......I am exercising......and the weight is coming off....but I hope Im not doing something to slow down the loss progress....I should keep a diary of my food...but like many other things in my life, i start it and then flub it. I found a great site, dont know if it has been posted here..... www.fitday.com and they have an awesome program that you can enter in your food intake....I should start using it huh???? All righty, thanks for listening..

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
