This wait is killing me (pun?)

Recommended Posts

Less than 2 months to go to my op and the waiting is excruciating. I just want this thing done. I'm feeling heavier than I've felt in a long time and every time I look in the mirror I can see even more weight piling on. I feel like a barrel with arms and legs sticking out.

I'm Ok most of the time, work keeps me busy. Its just the weekends that take so bl**dy long. And the fact I'll have 2 weeks off to just do whatever I want isn't helping. Want that time off now.

I work in child care and we have entered our official accreditation window. Basically, we are waiting for someone from the government to come out and decide if we are nice people. I have no problem with this. What I have a problem with is my director saying I might not be able to have the time off after all, if they haven't come out by then.

Tough whatsits I say to her!!! I'm having the op and the time off, even if I have to quit. I work for A Bad Childcare company who think they have a right to tell me what to do with my life. ha!!

Anyway, just wanted to whinge. Go back to your regular viewing.

Hi Sunwyse,

I agree tell them to go and get stuffed you have given them plenty of notice so there is nothing that they can do and at the end of the day your health is more important than a job, that is what I think anyways.

Sunwyse,

you need a op, therefore you need the time off. It's as simple as that. Your boss can't say you cannot have sick leave, and you will have a medical certificate to cover you for the time, so either way you're in the clear. She cannot sack you for taking time off sick, if you have a certificate which will prove you are sick.

I hope the time passes very quickly for you too. But I have to admit, the waiting never seems to end. First you wait to start the pre-op diet, then you wait for the op, then you wait for the fills, then you wait for restriction. I suppose you eventually stop waiting once you reach the sweet spot and lose all your excess weight.

But I know what it's like to feel like you just want to START your new life. So I do honestly hope it goes super fast and you're at your op before you know it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
