Need help from Fort Worth, Texas

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I met with someone at the True Results clinic in Fort Worth today and learned that while my insurance pays for banding it won't pay for me, my BMI is barely 35 and I weigh 185 with no co-morbid factors. That's stinks but we're going to go through with it because I don't WANT to develop those co-morbid factors! Anyway, I'm looking for someone out there who used either Dr. Adam Smith or Dr. Richard Carter from True Results. I'm looking for information on their bed side manner, the process, your results, etc.

Also, is there anyone out there who has used Dr. Wade Barker in Dallas? I know he will do the surgery for $10k and that would be so helpful but my husband and I don't want to go with a "Cheap" doctor. I've not read anything terribly bad on him other than his bed side manner. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had any kind of experience with him.

I appreciate the advice and support!:tt2:

i didnt have Dr. Carter, but since you asked about bedside manner -

on the date of my surgery i was PETRIFIED... white as a ghost, they couldnt find a vein for the IV, etc... not a good experience. AND my surgeon was nowhere to be found. Dr. Carter sat on my bed and tried to calm my nerves a bit... i will never ever forget that...

one thing i have heard - he is VERY conservative with his fills.

best of luck to you!

i would NOT suggest dr barker, my first consult was there and while he and his staff behind doors was ok, the office staff was extremely rude, also when you get there the expect to wait an additional 3 so if your appointment is at 3 (like mine was) i didn't get into a room until 6 and didn't get to see the dr until 6:30... that was a HUGE turnoff

i actually just had surgery today, and while everyone thinks their dr is the best i'll tell you that i agree, i think my dr is the best, he's the head of the weight loss surgery program for baylor, and i was cash pay as well. I'm going through the grapevine center because that closest to my house, but because i'm cash pay he does your surgery at irving so that he can give you a "package price" apposed to where you would pay the surgen, then the hospital, then the anistegolist and so on, but your fills and followups are at the baylor closest to you. i payed 15000, that includes surgery, fills for life, and nurictionst for as long as you need, and any addition bills you may have for pre testing is taken off the top of the price. My surgery went well, i'm in minimum pain and have very small cuts.

His name is Dr. Sina Matin, very knowlageable and very very nice, he doesn't bull shit he'll tell you like it is and gives you 100% of his support.

If you would like anymore info you can private message me if youd like. Good luck in your search and i hopethis helps

P.S. Turns out i had a herna and he fixed it while i was in surgery no extra charge

I started with Dr. Smith, but, since I did not have any of the factors need for the insurance coverage, I switched to TLCEDGE and am financing my surgery. I switched because it is way cheaper thru these doctors and it was a special offer. Dr. David Kim will be doing the surgery. He is located in North Richland Hills and does the surgery in a new state of the art bariatric facility in Plano. You will only go to Plano the day of the surgery. I have done my homework on this Dr., and the facility, and am convinced I will be getting the best of care. If you look in todays Fort Worth Star Telegram, you will see a full page advertisment about this TLCEDGE special offer. My payments will only be 176.00 per month. My surgery is scheduled for November 20. I am glad I switched, because, although I know that Dr. Smith is a good surgeon, he has so many patients now, I felt i was going thru one big huge cattle call (if you know what I mean). Check it out!

Hello,

When i first began the process of getting qualified for my surgery I was seeing Dr Adam Smith. I felt that he was a GREAT doctor. However, the staff sucked and ultimately that is why I switched to Dr Michael Green. I love him and his staff!!!!!!! It tells me a lot when you call the doctor's office and you are able to speak to someone righht then or you a certain that you will get a call back with in that business day. I couldn't imagine having the surgery and really needing a question answered and not being able to speak to someone. If I was getting that type of treatment prior to even having the surgery, it scared me to think of what would happen to me after the surgery if I had reamined a patient of Dr. Adam Smith.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
