Just starting the process

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I am just starting the process and I am excited and nervous. My insurance covers the surgery and I meet with the Doctor in September. I am trying to read everything I can about this surgery. Nice to know that I am not alone in this journey. I cannot wait to get skinny and be able to keep up with my soon to be 4 year old.

Welcome!!! I am pretty new too. My surgery is scheduled for September 12. I live in Albuquerque New Mexico and am having the procedure done in Houston Texas. You are going to love this site. Everyone is so nice and so helpful. You can ask ANY question and someone will have information to share. I am sooo glad that I found it. Good luck and hope to see you on here often!!! Becky

Actually it has gone very fast because I am paying for it and not using insurance. I went in for my initial consultation on August 13th and I will have it done Sept. 12th. I just finished day 4 of my pre-op diet.

Hellooo from a former Fredrick girl!! :( I lived there for 10 years and went to Hood College and then moved to Florida 12 years ago. I am new at this process too. I've been to the seminar and met with dietitian, med dr and the psych. Now I'm waiting on the next step. This site has been a great help to me. They bring up so many things that I haven't begun to think about. Good luck with your journey!

Hi! I'm new too. I saw the doc on 8/1 and have been going thru all the preop testing. I have one more test on Tues...stress test for cardio. Assuming all goes well, I hope to get a surgery date soon. I can't wait to do this and I'm glad there are so many others like you and me here for information and support. Hope to hear from you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
