the physical band

Recommended Posts

okay, yesterday I had my second unfill, and this time I wasn't freaked out by the whole thing. (I'm a big cry baby.)

So, after Jessie took out another .5cc she decided that I might still be too tight at 1cc, but she thinks I have some esophogeal thing going on too. Okay, not the point.

So, we are in her office, me drinking Water, her watching me drink the water, when I asked about the band itself. I asked if it was sort of like a big inflateable zip-tie. She gave me the weirdest look, then pulled out several bands to let m play with.

Apperently, only engineers ask about the physical structure of the band, and I'm the first one she's had to guessed that it was an inflatable zip-tie.

Guess what? it IS an inflateable zip-tie!

The 4cc band used to be called the 5cc band, but it hasn't changed size. They now only recommend 4cc because once you get much more fill, it starts to pinch the side of the stomach, which will cause damage.

She said you can put in about 30ccs before the band will explode.

all in all, it was very cool to play with, and I wonder if I get extra geek points...

Did she let you "fill" it up?

I was watching Dr. McKeen fill and un-fill a band...way cool to see it work!

yup, got to fill it up with air, and play with it. She used a 12cc syringe to show me how much the band can hold.

That's fun! I got to hold one at Dr Kuri's office, but i didn't really get to play with it. I suppose if I had asked...I'm so glad your geeky, Crystal! here's a question, since I am not geeky, at least in the technical sense, what else is an inflatable zip-tie used for?

I got to play with on in Dr. Rumbaut's office. I would not have compared it to a zip tie though, that's a really good analogy. :(

I can't think of another use for an inflatable zip-tie. I'll have to meditate on that. The only thing that imediately comes to mind is regulating fluids in a car...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
