Well I've got my date... now i'm panicking.

Recommended Posts

I have my surgery on September 16th, my brothers birth date. I am expected to go home the same evening. I won't have to be there until 9:30/10am, and be in the or by 11:30. I'm so blown away... I only started this journey May 6th of this year.

Congrats on the date! That was around when I was originally going to have my surgery but I had to push it back to October 9th because of scheduling conflicts. You are so lucky! I wish it were October already! Good luck on your journey! I don't have to stay the night either! So excited about that, but at the same time a little nervous!

Hello!

Don't Panic! I just returned from my one week check on the belly wounds and weigh in - I lost 9 lbs this week (okay not really hard to do when you're on Clear liquids - but still - a victory!) - and I'm feeling great! I had the panic about a week before my surgery date - started mourning for the food I might miss and then I remembered - HEY Girl, this is going to save your life! - oh yeah - that - get rid of diabetes - high blood pressure - ridiculous aches and pains -

Focus on the positive - I know I'm only ONE WEEK out of surgery but I am so glad I made this positive decision to feel better and be more healthy.

You will be great - and you will be so happy once you're on the journey!

:P

I went to my seminar 7/10 and had my first surgery 8/11, but because of fatty liver have rescheduled to 8/29, so I understand fast!

BUT I've wanted and researched the band since it came out in 2001.

So I'm one of those "overnight sensations" they talk about where really I've been headed here forever!

If you really are unsure, take the time to read, pray, meditate, whatever to make sure you want to commit to the lifestyle change!

I bought a few wooks on banding, besides doing internet searching etc, and they really helped answer a LOT of my lingering questions.

Good luck to you! :P

Hi. We are kinda in the same boat. I did my research, made my decision, and had my initial consultation on August 13th. My surgery is scheduled for September 12th. WOW!! I'm kind of like that though. Once I've made my decesion to do something, I don't want to sit around and wait. Today is day 3 of my 3 week pre-op diet. Good luck with your procedure. Maybe we can stay in touch. I'm a tiny bit nervous but very excited!!

One other thing...the NP in my surgeon's office told me...

She said the odds are high that down the road (1 to 2 years post op) I'll find I can eat just about everything I ever did, just in smaller quantities. She said not everyone has issues with foods getting stuck etc.

So I figure I will probably never eat popcorn again, but I can give that up to save myself from diabetes, which I was headed for. Otherwise, I am just going to keep an open mind and see how things shake out!

I've never really found a bandster yet who says he or she wishes they hadn't done it!

absolutely no way I'll regret it. Just a little bit worried about my 3 kids. I have one with cerebral palsy, that is mom dependent. I already have diabetes, and lots of aches and pains. I've had other issues, relating to my weight, but they fortunately are mild. The dr said with my sugar being so well controlled with diet and byetta, I should be able to go off all medication for that.

I'd love to stay in touch with you MissBS. However you may hate me, but I don't have to do the 3 week diet. I have to do a 2 day colon cleanse before the surgery. Not horrible.

Terilynn I'd surely be freaked too! Do you have any help taking care of the kiddos the first few weeks post op?

You go home the same day?? In Australia they make you stay in overnight just to make sure its all ok.

Congrats on the date, hoping all goes well for you.

It's new here in NY that they let you go home the same day.

Yes I do have my mom and dad helping out, and my 11 yr old is pretty handy when he needs to be.

We're supposed to stay overnight but I'm hoping mine will let me go home. He did after the 1st "attempt" and I was fine....happy to be home and slept like a queen. Hope I can go home the next time too!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
