Tummy Tuck 2 Days Ago

Recommended Posts

WoooHoooo

I am no longer a "lurker" on this plastic surg thread....I have now joined the club.

I am seeing doc next week to get the belly button stitches removed, and hopefully he will give me the pre-op pics and will take some post op pics. I will post as soon as I get them

Thanks to everyone who was brave enough to post pics and tell their story. I really felt that I knew what to expect. In fact when I was asking the nurse some questions, she asked me if I had a medical background.

Is anyone else gonna get their navel pierced??

Congratulations! How are you feeling? How long did the doctor say you need to rest before returning to work?

I'm looking forward to seeing your pics.

Although I had my Tummy Tuck 2yrs ago and just had lap band 7/22, I have never regreted it. It made a world of defferance. They took off 11lbs of redundent skin. I'm really happy for you. You never really know how much that belly is in the way until it's gone. Happy healing.

Thanks for your support!

Doc said 2-3 weeks before returning to work. I have the vacation time available so I am gonna take 3 weeks.

The hardest part is gonna be not "overdoing it". I feel great, but I know that rest will help the healing.

Congrats to both of you on getting your band. You are in for a wonderful journey.

I am grateful for the band every single day.

You might be at goal after the swelling from the TT goes down. Some people have indicated that the removed skin weighed between 5-15 lbs depending upon how many lbs they'd lost.

Congratulations on your surgery..

I know it will be pain for a few days, but the results are great..

don't forget to wear a compression girdle it makes a big difference.

Dr Rey has a good one or go to any website for post-surgery girdles

I found mine at www.instantlipo.com

You are right about the compression garment, it actually feels good on. The doc wants it on for 6 weeks.

One was included with my surgery, and a friend who has a TT last year gave me hers. It is great to have 2 so I can wear one and wash one.

I recommend having 2 available if possible for your TT.

How long did you have to stay in the hospital if at all.

Why three weeks from work? Can it be sooner? I'm hoping to have my TT done soon, just waiting for the insurance approval.

Hi Babs

It was a day procedure, I got to the docs at 1:00, they started "cutting" at 1:45 and I was home by 6:00pm.

They told me 2-3 weeks off work, because I can't lift or stretch. I am also on some painkillers (percocet) which can make you drowsy. There are also a few follow-up appts in the beginning.

I have been doing a little work from home (I have a desk job). But since I am using my vacation time, I am trying to forget about work and enjoy what is left of the summer.

Good luck with insurance, I am envious. I was self pay for the band and the TT.

Hi I am having my Tummy Tuck tomorrow at 1230. I am nervous but excited. No more extra lap!! How much do you hurt? How much pain meds are you using. I have to say I am nervous to use them because I became constipated the last time.:w00t: I bought a bottle of senkot and plan on taking one of those each time I take a med. Did they tell you how much they took off? Are you happy you did it? Thanks Diana

Hi DogMom

It was a day procedure, in and out same afternoon.

Very little pain, less than banding because there is no horrid gas pains. I took the pain meds for three days. My stomach is already a lot flatter (yippeee) but will be even flatter after swelling goes down. I am seeing doc tomorrow, and will see my new button for the first time.

My only regret is not getting a breast lift at the same time. I chickened out of getting 2 procedures at once, because of the expense and the perceived pain.

You are gonna love the flat stomach look!!

Wow maybe in a year I will join the club, I was banded 3 weeks ago and my "apron" is getting strange looking already. I had a rash under my left breast also from the skin on skin touching when not wearing a bra. I was told to report every little rash or skin problem so that if and when I decide to look into TT. The insurance might pay for that and a boob lift. I have very very sensitive skin and do get rashes in the hot and humid weather on my stomach and breasts.

Glad to hear it hurt less than the lap band. Maybe I'll get it done next year at the end of the summer.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
