add to shakes? (liquid diet)

Recommended Posts

OK now this really stinks...most of the stuff everyone has mentioned I can't add. I'm on Optifast, and it's very limited. Diet soda, splenda or equal, and extracts are about it for me. I can tell you that diet root beer, diet cherry coke, and cherry extract all are terrible in mine! :w00t:

lol, i have news also... *EEK* .. i got a call back from my dietitian and she said "maybe i can approve for you to put a banana in it, or something" ........LOL.......so...i cheated? i had 2 sips of the shake with banana and strawberry haha.

i guess my dr.'s system is more strict than i thought. :w00t: lol.

anyways, i threw that one away lol. *yuck*

Tonight I tried a little vanilla extract and 3 splendas in the vanilla shake, and it was tolerable. Better than the vanilla in anything else, ugh, that made me want to get sick...Can't wait to go shopping and pick up some orange diet soda and some more extracts. Wish i could put fruit in mine. Just for something solid! Hahahaha!

oh, i know. i had 2 sips of vanilla for Breakfast and i am going to be sick lol. i am putting it in the freezer...hoping that if it freezes, i can eat it with a spoon and pretend its ice cream.

but when i tried that with another flavor, it never froze. lol.

I tried vanilla in diet root beer in the freezer for a couple of hours and it sort of froze, not solid though, just had ice flakes in it. lol. And it was AWFUL!

When I did Optifast 3 years ago, I used this recipe list

Personally, I liked using Faygo diet chocolate soda with a vanilla shake or diet cherry soda with chocolate shake. I also used to add instant coffee and a bit of cocoa powder to the chocolate for a mocha.

I still have a lot of my extracts from last time. Guess I'd better dust them off for my 4 week pre-op diet :cursing:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
