Hi! I'm glad you said I could ask questions, lol! I meet with the dietician tomorrow for the first of 6 month diet. So how was the surgery? During my seminar, the dr. said that some people go home the first day, did you? How was the pain? When were you up and walking? When did you go back to work?

Sorry to bombard you, just have so many questions!

Can you feel restriction already?

Thanks!

Katie

Hi...sorry it took awhile to answer your post, it's been awhile since I was last on. My surgery went very well, just a little soreness that lasted a couple of days. The pain was manageable so I was sorry I even got the pain medication prescription filled (LOL). My surgery was scheduled for 9:30am the morning of Aug. 12th and I was back home by 2pm that evening. I had my 1st post op w/Dr. on 8/20/08. I lost 12 pounds..YIPPEE!! My 2nd post op is on 9/10/08..I will let everyone know how much more I have lost or hope I have lost

How long did it take you to get your insurance authorization, do you have to pay your deductible before surgery

I self paid for my surgery because my insurance did not cover the lapband surgery. I found out later after I had paid and had the surgery that they do now offer coverage for the lapband:angry_smile: So now I'm trying to get reimbursed...wish me luck!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
