HOPE 4 slipped bands....

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I just wanted to bring some hope and positive energy to those who have a slipped band! I was told 3 weeks ago my band had a "significant slip" and I was absolutely devastated! I thought I would need to have another operation and may even lose the one thing that actually allowed me to lose 50lbs since all other failures. I stayed on the liquid diet for 7 days and soft foods for 7 days and a mixture of the two the remaining 4 or so days until the dr could see me again and I would relax and "meditate" if you will, thinking only of how happy I'd be when my band was back in place and asking for healing of my band. I just kept visualizing my stomach slipping down through the band and back into place. I tried not to worry and to keep positive energy around me and somehow it worked. I was so nervous today when they called me in and when I had to have my barium swallow and when I would feel the anxiety... I would bring myself to a confident, happy, "I know it is healed" place!

And it is back in place!

Maybe the diet alone would help others or maybe you'll need to forget the anxiety and negativity to help your body do what it needs to do, but I am so happy to know this worked for me and pray this will help anyone else in this predicament.....

Please send me some of your positive energy!!! :biggrin2:

I go back Friday for my barium swallow to see if I am better. I have been on a total liquid diet since last Friday. Had reflux really bad and decided to finally go in and have it looked at. After passing out twice from dehydration and being put on an IV, I will never take advantage of my band again. I am keeping good thoughts that my stomach will be healthy and all swelling will be down.

Thanks for giving me hope!!

Kathy :)

Good luck to you. I hope things stay well with you but be aware that if your band eventually needs a repair you are far better off to go ahead and find out and take care of it sooner than later. Slight slippage and pouch dilation can be very similar. I have spent the last 4 months being unfilled and trying to refill only to have the pouch dilation and/or slip reoccur after getting very far into filling again. My pouch also looked back to normal after a 6 wk. unfill. Finally my doc decided I needed surgery. I now have a brand new band in correct position as of this past monday and am looking forward to finally having it work again the way I know it can. I am 4.5 yrs out and have lost 100 lbs. but regained 50 in the last year while trying to fight and figure out the pouch dilation and slip thing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
