The powder room

Recommended Posts

I am glad this room got started. There are things I need to ask and have absolutely nobody in my life that I can ask these kinds of personal questions.

The band has given me back my life in a way that has made me extremely happy. I know I wouldn't have the wonderful health conscience bf that I have now if I hadn't lost all the weight. My life for several years before I lost the weight was empty and lonely. I just wanted to say I am glad that we have a place that we can come and feel comfortable sharing things that we can't share with people we know in real life.

Glad you like it...some don't obviously though.

I agree Denise. I don't necessarily come in this forum everyday, but it's really nice to read that other women go through the same stuff I do. I like to come in here, especially if I'm having a bad day and need some girl talk time, lol.

I'm glad this forum isn't 'just about the band'! The band is important, but so is all the other stuff.

After two threads recently being closed, I was concerned that other threads in the powder room would be closed too. Alex said it is an off topic room, but we can't be too graphic in there. I guess we will have to use our good judgement as to what is too graphic.

I have discussed some very personal issues in here, and I am not comfortable talking face to face with anyone about these issues so I am glad we have the powder room to discuss things with our lbt friends.

I think we need to keep in mind that it's okay to talk about sexual issues, etc, in here but to just post random items about sex is not appropriate. Specific concerns or questions that you'd like addressed are certainly okay to post about.

I understand moderation...to some degree. But, it's hard to be polite society here and then look at R&R where everything goes. Here at least, we can get good (?) advice from other women.

I love reading the powder room...and I love being graphic. I can't discuss this kind of stuff with anyone because I get too red in the face. Online, it's easy.

I've tried the exercise ball...maybe I'm not doing it right...?

I also *almost* bought some plain yogurt to "apply directly to source" but thought about it way too much. I ended up putting it back without buying it. But I stood in the grocery store for a good 2 minutes thinking about the things I've read in this thread.

LBT is great because you can read about your issues with the band and other "real-life" things. For me, gaining weight wasn't all about food. There is a lot of emotion behind it and the Powder Room makes me feel that I have girlfriends to talk to.

IRL I don't have that many. I have work friends and family members, but not many friends my age, in the same boat as me.

From what I read here, a lot of women have the same questions and concerns that I do. And, the potty mouth that I do! Which, is a relief to me.

Anyway...that's my 2 cents.

Someone PM me and tell me which threads were closed...???? I've been out on vacation and had limited internet access....I've been jones'n man for my LBT - BIG TIME.

I agree. It's really nice to have friends in here and having a place to feel comfortable enough to discuss things with friends we are comfortable with. I too have nobody else I would share the things I have shared in the powder room. It's embarrassing in here too, but at least I don't have to see anyone face to face.

You can just look on the powder room page and see where it says '

thread closed"

I like this room the way it is. It is nice to have a place where people just talk openly about whatever :0). I would be very dissapointed if this room closed for any reason.

I don't think it's going to close. I am pretty sure everything is okay now.

Well I enjoy having this forum here. I discuss stuff with you guys that I would never discuss with anyone face to face. You guys aren't judgmental, and for those who are, I just ignore. The fact is, this is a great learning space too.

I agree. We need a place to ask questions and not have to see the person all the time if we feel embarrassed after talking about something.

It's bad enough that I chat with people in the chat room at LBT and I wonder if they have read any of my powder room posts. But at least these people can't see how red my face is when I get the guts up to ask some of this stuff.

I like the open discussion, but the random articles get old.

Don't like them don't open them. Simple as that.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
