Hi Giuys - i've been absent for a while... like 3 months apparently..

just wanted to check in and see how the January Bandsters are going..

I've had Bertha (my band) for about 7 months and i've lost approx 35kg..so i'm pretty happy - not a crazy crazy result.. but good none the less..

so anyone else wanna tell me how they are going...

anyways much love and support being sent out from here..

Hi Jess, I reckon you have done just great girl!! All those kilos - you must be feeling great about yourself for that achievement. I was banded just a few days before you on 10th January and I have lost just 14 kg but feel terrific, especially since I have now cracked the 100 kg point offically as I weighed at my specialists and registered at 99.2 kg!! Yay!! I have to say I feel 100% better in myself and I am loving the need to buy new clothes all the time!!

Keep going and let us all hear your progress.

from another January 08 Bandster

hey girl, thanks for the kind words..

i totally understand the getting down over the food thing... but i just don't know if i could bear to put the weight back on..

could it be worth having some taken out of the band and trying some thing else to help (i'm swearing off any more fills - i'm at about 7 mls so i can't go much more or i'll be like dead) so i bought a bike, and now i'm going to give riding it a go!!

i hope you find a solution, and that you feel better about the band soon... it has saved my life and i am really grateful...

much love and support from me to you

xxoo

Thanks jess. i have 6ml in my band now, and I am pretty much at my limit. I can't eat before 11am, if i do I vomit, I even have to sip my coffee super slow or I become sick. i eat 2 crackers and a bit of hommus for lunch and then for dinner i eat about as much as my 2 year old. Eating dinner is hard and i have to eat super slow, takes me sometimes an hour to finish a handful of food.< /p>

I try to snack on avocados and higly nutritious food in between.

Don't get me wrong, i would never go back to the way I was, I just wish I could eat a little bit more, but my dr tried taking liquid out and I could eat anything :)....what to do??

A couple of weeks ago I was vomiting really bad and on one day started vomiting blood for 12 hours. My dodctor gave me some tests, the barium xray showed that my bad hadn't slipped:unsure:

Thanks for your support though jess, it means alot:regular_smile:

I would think 35 kgs in 7 months is an awesome result? Why do think that is not a crazy crazy result.. well done to you, its fantastic.

I just broke the 20 kg mark after 4.5 months. I had a plateau for around 8 weeks though. Just started dropping down again this past 2 weeks after changing one of my diabetic medications.

I have 6mls in my band. Its odd how everyone is so different. I manage about 1100 to 1200 calories a day of very good food (yes I have to take tiny bites, and some things (like bread) are off my list).

Well Done luscious, thats a great result!!!

I am very pleased with my weight loss, I am just battling with heart burn and i am still having some shoulder tip pain, which drives me mad.

i am also finding it hard to take teh time to eat, i have to eat really slow, but havinga 2 yer old makes it hard.

I am stoked with my weight loss though and would not change aa thing.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
