Cigna Cobra ??

Recommended Posts

My husbands company may very likely be switching from Cigna to an inferior company...needless to say they do not cover baraitric surgery. Cigna does and has been just wonderful this far. I am not due to submit my paperwork until the end of November (END OF 6 MONTH DIET) and we switch over Jan 1st....It is VERY likely that they may not make a decision until after Jan...anyway now I am looking into cobra....I would have the same coverage, and I would only sign up myself...the rest of the family would go with the new insurance....has anyone had to switch to cobra during this process, or had to go from Cigna to Cigna cobra??? Thanks for any insight you may have. Kimbelry

I have been offered cobra before when switching jobs but it was about $1,000 a month. It can be very costly. You may want to ask now how much they expect it to be for cobra coverage.

Are you sure you can get Cigna if the company is offering alternative coverage? I thought cobra only applied if you left the job or the company cancelled all insurance; not sure you can keep it because you prefer it to the new coverage.....

Cobra is verrrrrry expensive. I know when my dad switched jobs and my parents had to pay for Cigna Cobra for a few months, it was ~$1K/month.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
