Hi guys

Looking for more advice - thank God for this site.

Problem one - first fill was 10 days ago - I don't know if I have restriction or not!!!! I've just ate some bran flakes for Breakfast, and I do feel full, but with other meals, I can eat and eat!!! Am I restricted??

Also, I am terrified of stretching my pouch and am worried I'm eating too much at each meal - although I'm counting about 1200 calories a day.

Last night I had a medium sized baked potato with cottage cheese and a little salad - I deliberately didn't eat it all, but I felt I could have gone on! Is this too much?

Do I need to make an appointment for another fill???

hi,

most people need more than 1 or 2 fills to get pretty good restriction. i know i am tighter in the morning than any other time (usually liquids only in the AM). if you find yourself not losing like you would like (2 pounds a week average), maybe schedule another fill.

good luck!

You may need another fill. If you are hungry between meals, are eating too much at meals, and you are not losing 1-2 pounds a week you should go in again. Usually there is not enough restriction at the first fill.

Thanks for the advice.

Felt yesterday like I could eat and eat and eat. Booked in for August 25th for a second fill.

I have perfect restriction and I eat 1-3oz at a time. My doctor said sometimes good restriction is as little as 1/2 of an egg! I typically consume 1/2 cup of food. I at 3 oz of chicken, 5 slices of Tomato and about 1/4 cup of salad in about 40 minutes the other day. So I think you are not quite there yet. 800-1k calories, 1200 max is good. If you are losing however you may be okay. It is totally up to you and your surgeon as to how much restriction to have.

Thanks Julie.

Well, there is no way I am near my restriction then, cos I can get much more than that down - thanks. I'll just have to be patient and finally I'll hit the "sweet spot" everyone keeps talking about.

I hardly had any restriction until my 4th fill. It was also explained to me that as you lose weight you lose it around your organs (which is a good thing) and as this happens the band loosens up and can allow for more to pass through. So now I have pretty good restriction and am finally understanding what everyone has been talking about. I thought I was never going to get there so just be patient, it will happen soon enough.

Hi. Thanks for the replies.

Definatley no restriction, but I'm being really positive and sticking strictly to 1200 cals until Monday.

Met my friend for coffee today - long story but her band wasn't working and she's put on 3 stones (42lbs) back on!!!!! It was repaired last week and now she is totally restricted and can't even get half a cup of coffee down!!! I really don't want to be as restricted as that. (she's going back to see her surgeon next week). Just restricted enough to send me the message I'm getting full.

I've been banded since June 23 and have similar concerns about restrictions. I am not hungry and don't eat many calories. Weight loss is probably ok(about 1 pound per week) but I never feel the restriction. I weigh and measure but I know I could eat more with no discomfort. Have had 1 fill; am at 3.8 cc. Is this alot, a little or average? Have an appoint for 9/15.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
