Deep Breath!

Phew, had my first consult today with Dr Chris De Bruyne and I have to say that even though I had to wait an hour beyond my appointment time due to a delayed flight for Dr Chris, I am feeling confident and excited about being banded.

I'm booked in for 19th December for financial and practical considerations (husbands holidays so he's able to come with me, and look after me and my young son when I am post op) - woohooo Christmas is gonna come early for me :tongue_smilie:

To anyone in Dr Chris's waiting room today I was the woman with the excited baby and sorry if you noticed a lingering eau de vomit, said son threw up down my back whilst waiting:cursing:

Hiya,

Glad to hear you're excited! My surgery is on Tuesday and I wish it was tomorrow. Trying to stick to liquid this week was OK until today and I just lost it before whilst everyone was out and I was in on my own. Hope that once I've had my surgery I just won;t have a choice so that will stop me doing it. My relationship with food is so bad can't wait for it to get sorted.

One more sleep & I have my initial consult tomorrow at Derby Royal Infirmary with Mr Leeder & co. I'm really excited & not at all nervous yet.

Waiting lists in Derby are currently running at approx 4 months, so if I get approved I too should be banded by Christmas. I'd really like that more than anything. Vixon & I have gone through all this almost hand in hand so far, it'd be great if we continue that right down the line. I think I'd have still got here eventually but the journey definitely wouldn't have been so comfortable without her support :mad2:

Hi Lily, wont be long now will it, I'm already planning pre-op diet.

I am also booked in at the Campanile - they really ought to pay Dr Chris commision lmao.

Look forward to seeing you.

Will you be going to Dr Chris' surgery/house the evening before? I am going at 9pm, if you are it would make sense to share taxi's and things. Feel free to pm me we can arrange something I'm sure.

Will you be travelling alone? I have my hubby to hold my hand thank god or I think I might brick it!

Hi Vixon, I've got my evening appointment at 7pm on the 18th so would be a long wait for you but we could all probably cram in a cab in the morning am guessing we'll all have to be there at the same time regardless of our position on the op list! My husband is also coming with me, originally I was going to bring my mum but am guessing that my husband will be more relaxed so its all good. What pre op diet are you planning to follow? I've got a consultation with Dr. Chris on Thurs in Manchester, I just wanted to meet him and ask all or most of my questions before flying out there. Yey it's so close now. will see you at the hotel am guessing. Bye for now. Kay:thumbup:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
