San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Yes, we're still planning to have meetings. The woman who said we could have meetings at her home has just moved, and I think she's finally settled. I'm going to talk to her, and will let everyone know when the next meeting is.

thanks for asking.

Debbie

I'd like to get on that support group action too! I'm going to the 3/18 group at Providence St Joseph's to meet the requirement that Dr. Quilici has for pre-op, but I'd like a long term support group just for the band. My roommate just got banded, we live in Pasadena and are committed to making a change in our lives - a support group would really help with that.

I have a high BMI (51ish) so Dr. Quilici seems to think bypass is better for me. However, I'm only 28 and don't have any other health problems besides obesity, and I prefer lapband over bypass (for MANY reasons), so I'm stickin to my guns and going with the band! Slower weight loss is ok by me, that means less saggy skin, less hair loss, and hey - it's adjustable for life! Come on now, bypass is just scary compared to the band in my opinion.

Ok I got off track, but in any case I'd love to attend a bandster support group!

I would love it also. I was just banded on 3/8 and I think it would be GREAT to meet up with fellow bandsters in the area. Keep us posted.

Shall do. We just had a meeting a few weeks ago so it won't be for awhile. The meetings really help me to stay on track and offers support and information.

I want in on the support group. I'm in Canoga Park. I was banded 2-25-09.

I'm going to suggest that we have the meeting during the week in which Dr. quilici's groups don't meet, and also that it be on a tuesday. I'll talk to the woman who is hosting the meetings and see if that's all right with her. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to have a meeting at least once a month. I could sure use that!

I'm being banded by Dr. Quilici on March 26th and would love to be a part of your local band support group also if possible! :)

Hi Everyone,

I am just in the starting phases. I am out in Thousand Oaks but would love to have a local support group. I am hoping to have the surgery around the middle of may.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
