Hi, i was banded 10/1/08. My dr. wouldnt fill me on the 6th of nov. because he said that i have exceded my weiht loss for the month. I feel that i dont have any restriction though. I think that i really need a fill. I am exercising but it just seems that i should have a fill. I go again on Dec. 4th and i kinda hope that i didnt lost the recommended amount, lol and then he will fill me. I have lost 21 lbs since surgery.

:tongue_smilie: HI SW FL! I am newly banded 12-10-08 and would really like to find some people that are close by. I am in Cape Coral and would also like to know about in-person suport groups.

Any advice?

Hi Karen, I am in Cape Coral Fort Myers area. I was banded August 11. I usually attend support groups in Fort Myers at Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral, Maybe I could take you to a support group one day! Who did your band? Keep in touch!

Hi, I am from Ft Myers aswell. I was banded in August. Dr. Shieh did my band (I work with him aswell at Healthpark) Anyway! GOOD LUCK :frown:

I've heard Dr. Shieh is really good! My insurance wouldn't cover surgery through him though, so I have to go all the way up to Bradenton. Karen (Bkhuffman) and I have been emailing and talked about finding a support group in this area. Does the one at Lee Memorial accept people from other doctors? And when are the meetings?

He is an amazing surgeon and such a wonderful person. I was a self pay patient. (no places in florida accept my insurance, and I work for the hospital isn't that nice) anyway, he's the sweetest man ever. I love him! Well, I'd love to meet you and Karen, I emailed her the January support group email and in that email there are the directions and days and where they meet. You can come, they are open to everybody! Hope to see you there.

I am going to email you the support groups for January.. In the email they have the directions to get there and the times and locations. Ok! I am in nursing school so I work and am in school alot, so I haven't been in a while. But I'd love to meet you if you go to one let me know!

Well, that's good, you should always go to someone who you feel comfortable with. I work with Dr. Shieh in the OR so I know how he works as a surgeon and was very impressed. Good luck! Let me know how everything goes ok!?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
