Short term goals for July Butterflies

Recommended Posts

My short term goal is Onederland, anything less I guess is not a big deal. I was already walking about a mile and a half a day before surgery, but upped it now to twice a day pretty often, and looking at increasing the distance once it cools off here in Dallas, this morning was just too hot.

What's the problem?? I have a cruise in 3 weeks, last cruise I put on 7 lbs. At the rate Im going it would take me over a month to relose the weight. I have a fill this Sat, but my port seems to have moved, so Im also worried why am I feeling my port all the sudden since last Fri? Did the stitches come lose where he sewed it down?

Im really walking a lot now, hoping to get into a size 18 jean dress, that is too tight around my belly to zip up right now. I sure would love to be able to bring it on my cruise. I can wiggle into it now, but I cant come close to zipping it up.

So, my goals are the size 18 jean dress by cruise time and Onederland.

Okay I have been meaning to ask someone. What is Onderland?

Any weight starting with a 1.... 100 to 199 lbs. Meaning someone dropped below the 200 lbs mark. There is a thread of folks who are hitting or almost hitting Onederland. I was at 212 lbs this morning, 13 lbs to go.

Thank you 1day at a time. Your words have inspired me.

It really is a struggle everyday. I honestly thought the only reason that I am overweight has to do with the fact that I LOVE bread. But is not my problem. It´s the food picking. Over the last few weeks I have realised that I don´t have an issue with bread, it´s just that bread was the easiest thing to fill my need atthe time. Now I am still food picking but picking at other foods.

I have to sort this problem out in my mind. There has to be a good enough reason why I do this.

Mrs J.J,

I am by no means and expert on this stuff but I started realizing how much I do stuff (meaning eating) just to fix my feelings and it has helped me alot. Please don't get me wrong I struggle like everyone else with my food issues. I think we are all on this board to help each other out or ask for help so I am glad I could help someone.

Have any of you planned any short term goals? If you have list them here so we can motivate each other.

Mine is to get back in the gym walking at least 3x a week starting Monday. I want to be able to easily walk the ACS 5k at the end of September.

I was running 5k's back in December but got diagnosed with cancer in February and shut down...haven't been back to the gym since. I'm still not cleared for *real* excercise but walking I can do.

Hello All!

My goals are to get into Onederland (only 13 lbs to go!) and to walk at least 30 minutes a day.

I am very lucky to work for a company that has a gym in the first floor of our building. So I have been doing good going down there on my lunch hour to walk on the treadmill. But because of my workload, I often skip lunch so I have been only going down 2-3 times a week. I want to make the time for myself each day and on the weekends too!

I think this would help in seeing the results a little faster!

Hey, does anyone know when we can incorporate weights back int our exercise? I was thinking the small ones (like 3 or 5 lbs) might work, just to prevent me from loosing all muscle tone! (or what little tone I have!):)

Ask your doc...mine didn't clear me to do anything but walk till 6 weeks post-op. As with everything else, I am sure every doc is different:rolleyes:

I had my first fill which didnt go perfectly. I didnt have it in writing that I needed from my surgeon the max fill my band would hold and they doubted I had a 10 cc band as I understood I had. So, first she put in 3 cc, then took it out and I think I wound up with 1.8 cc. Then I drank the barium and it made me sick to my stomach and then I almost fainted, if I hadnt laid down. The fill and fluro were done standing up. I cant tell I have any more resistance than I had before my fill, but I do feel better that my port is where it should be.

Im also 1 lb up from what I weighed Friday morning, not sure if I am a little swollen or something or just not eating as well. The fill was more of a experience than I expected. I was banded July 9th, so Im about 5 weeks plus post op now. At least tomorrow I can eat regular food again.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
