What do I take to the Hospital?

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone. I have a surgery date in two weeks and I am on the pre-op eating plan. I am also nervous but so anxious to begin my own journey. I had alot of my questions answered but was wondering....what all did you take to the hospital? The nurse mentioned wearing "loose" clothes. Does she know how long its been since I had LOOSE clothes !! lol Thanks for the help.

Im not banded yet but if it were me....im gonna wear sweats and a t-shirt! COMFORTABLE!!! Because when you come home you arent gonna want to wear tight jeans or clothes. Even if you have to buy some its gonna be so worth it!

I was just banded on 7/24. I brought a duffle bag with PJs and Gas-x and magazines....but I slept for most of the night, then when I was up I had to go for a walk to get the blood flowing. I never even bothered to change into my own nightgown, I just stayed in the hospital gown. Maybe bring slippers. I did use mine because they only had the papery ones. Also, YES you should bring/buy some loose clothing to wear home the next day just to be comfortable. If you plan on wearing a bra, get a loose fitting sports bra without underwire. I wore loose sweatpants and a big T-shirt with a loose sports bra underneath. Just to keep clear of your incisions, plus my stomach stayed swollen and bloated for more than a week. Good luck!

You're really going to want to have some loose fitting elastic pants and a comfortable shirt to wear to the hospital and home. Other than that I'd pack a hair brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, some slip on shoes--like birkenstock sandals. That's all you need! I of course packed way more than that, and I didn't need anything other than what I listed.

Sorry I hit a button and that post sent before I was finished. I went to Cato's and found a pair of capris that were made out of jogging pants material. I got a size bigger. I was glad because my stomach was very swollen after surgery and for about a week after getting home. I also had a pr. of elastic pants but I did not wear them. I mostly wore my gown and robe or those capri's. Were are you having your surgery and is anyone going with you?

Bring something loose and comfy to wear home. You stomach will be sore and distended from the gas used during the procedure. When you come home, you'll just want to sleep for the first day anyway so no need to get all spiffied up. You just need something to get you home from the hospital in comfort. Slip on shoes are DEFINITELY the way to go though.

As far as while you're there, if you're just in for the overnight, you'll have a johnny & no-slip socks provided. You most likely won't be allowed a shower before you go home, so you won't need any of those toiletries. Bring a toothbrush and definitely some lip balm. Pain often makes you breathe thru your mouth, causing your lips to dry out faster. Plus, hospitals are notoriously dry to begin with.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
