Drs Halmi/Tran

Recommended Posts

Did anyone use Dr. Halmi or Dr. Tran? I was approved for the lapband procedure yesterday. I have an appointment for my second consultation with Dr Tran next week, as well as an appt. to see the dietician (Brittany). So far, my experience with Dr Tran has been fine, the office staff seems very efficient and responsive.

I was just banded by Dr. Halmi on July 9, 2008. I use the Woodbridge, VA office. I had my surgery at Potomac Hospital. If you have any questions about the practice I can help you out. My surgery was a success and I have not had any problems so far. Dr. Halmi, Tran and Brittany are good folks.

Thanks for the information. I go to the Vienna office and so far I am really happy with what I've seen. What has been the hardest part of having this procedure for you? Are you achieving the results you hope to achieve? How has your follow up care been so far? I have definitely made up my mind to have the procedure, but I just want to know what to expect.

One more thing....what brand of Protein shakes you buy? I am currently using the Atkins shakes and I like them (as long as they are really cold). I've have tried other brands that I thought were disgusting, what brand do you like?

I am hoping to have surgery soon with either Dr Tran or Dr Halmi. However, I haven't seen a general practioner in years!! Does anyone have any recommendations of a doctor in the Reston/Fairfax/Sterling areas who is supportive of weight loss surgery? My last doctor was a real jerk about my weight which is the main reason I haven't been in so many years!

I used Drs. Halmi and Tran. They were awesome. I would highly recommend them and their office. Their staff was great. Definitely on top of everything and responsive. I had my one year anniversary on 7/25. I am doing great. I still follow-up w/them and still love them.

I'm going to them. I'm in the beginning stages and my insurance requires 6 months of physician lead classes. I met Brittany in my first class last month. I will be taking my second class on the 26th.

I wish I would have known about this office before I started with my Drs office at GW Hospital. Well that may not be fair, Dr. Brody is nice I'm just a little upset with the secretary as she has been sitting on my paperwork since last thursday and has not submitted it to the insurance company, but I'm going to get on her nerves until she gets off her butt.

I don't know of a geneal practioner to refer you to, but if you have a PPO Inurance you really don't need a referal to see the surgeon.

Good Luck

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
