Set myself some mini goals and rewards!

Recommended Posts

To keep myself motivated, I've set myself mini goals:

  • when I get to 85kgs (187lbs), I will enrol in salsa classes and buy myself a new outfit
  • when I get to 75kgs (165lbs), I will buy myself a new ipod, a Nike+ system and 2 new outfits
  • when I get to 65kgs (143lbs), I'll start organising my tummy tuck!

to get to these goals, I will:

  • Exercise (and work up a sweat) at least 30 mins 4 times a week.
  • Eat well and make low fat, low carb, low cal healthy choices, even if I'm not feeling much restriction, even if I'm hungry.
  • Love myself and always remember what I'm doing this for.

I'm putting it out here in black and white so I remember to stay true to myself.

C'mon everyone! What are you mini goals? How are you going to reward yourself for a job well done??

Those are wonderful goals.

Mini goal is to ride my bike for at least 30 minutes every day.

Pick out my fat clothes that I do love and take them to a tailor to have them taken in when I lose 40 lbs. or so.

Put away $20 a week for new wardrobe when I get to goal weight of 130

To eat healthy and not do anything to cause band slippage. Make good choices

To play with my new grandbaby at least twice a day.

To go out with husband once a week to the movies or just a nice walk around the mall or other fun place.

That's it for now

Oh ultimate buy sexy underwear at Victoria's Secret when I get to goal and get a a sexy red dress an shoes and go dancing with hubby.

I actually had to think about this overnight, but I reserve the right to change my mind or "reward" myself at any time

260#: To meet the next goal, I will up the treadmill to a 1% grade and step up the pace to 3.2 mph. My treat will be a whopping trip to the salon for fresh highlights and a frisky copper rinse. My hubby freaks over the $200 bill (I have long hair), so this will be an awesome reward. He agrees!

249#: Only 11 more pounds to lose from the first goal, but a hugely symbolic goal since I haven't been under 250 in AGES! To meet the next goal, I will up the treadmill to a 2% grade and add 5 minutes. My hubby will be taking me for a weekend to see the xmas decorations at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC.

240#: This will be -50# for me!!! To get to the next goal, I will drop the grade, slow the pace, and add in 2 minute jogging intervals:eek: I will indulge in a really pretty, sparkly Bracelet 'cause my wrists will be small enough to actually wear one! One of my girlfriends told me to get a bangle so that it will make alot of noise when it taps the desk at work...just to remind me of my achievement. What a gal, huh?

230#: Alright girlie...time to pick up the pace, pick up those feet, and jog it 5 minutes at a time! A HUGE shopping spree:bras, bras, and more bras!

220#: Get off the treadmill and run the 5K already! A celebratory spring roller coaster trip to an amusement park...where I can ride every darn ride I darn well please...darnit!

210#: I gotta think on this one for awhile.

One-derland! A big fat trip to the Aquarium in Atlanta.

190#: Hell, if I get to -100# I think I'll deserve a trip to Manhattan!

WOW. This is a great one! Im even excited to really honestly get to think about this now!

212lb(40lb lost) I will get a new hair-do :) My hair is also pretty long and it always costs an arm and a leg to get it done, but im going to get color, a full highlight, cut, and blow dry!

199lb (Under 200lb!!!!!) This should be right around my birthday in October, so if so, i would really love to get a pair of diamond stud earrings to remind me of how far i have come everytime i look in the mirror... nothing accentuated likes sparkly stuff!

177lb (80lb lost!) 3 new outfits including accessories!

160lb (92lb lost! GOAL WEIGHT) Take a calendars worth of vintage pinup shots!!! I dont think i will do any nudes, just a lot with great legs and beautiful hair and make up! I REEEEAAALLLYY want this part! Then i will start looking into nipping and tucking!!!

150lb (UNDER GOAL!) Im not even sure if my body is able to get this small, but if she if she is, then i will finally really start looking into modeling.

damn that feels good even thinking about this!

Goals: Hmm, this could be fun after reading everyone elses!:)

220#: Feel great about riding my horse! I can't wait, I almost sold him this spring, but then I really started investigating (for the 2nd time) getting the band. So I didn't sell him and I am so excited about being able to ride again:thumbup:

199#: Have a freakin party for myself! I can't remember putting a number 1 in front of my weight. I will definitely buy some cute new clothes. Bras and panties will be fun to buy - I can't wait!

At this point I think I can get serious about running again, in a weird way I am excited about this. I would love to run a marathon with my husband.

170#: Ride the rides at Disneyland this spring - that will be so fun. I have been too afraid of the bars not fitting, so I haven't ridden a roller coaster in way too many years!

150#: Woo Hoo, this is the big GOAL! I am hoping to be off my meds by this point. I want to buy some really great clothes and maybe a really cute swim suit! OMG  Take a romantic vacation with my husband. It would be a treat for both of us!

To reach my goals:

I will eat a low cal, low carb diet

I will exercise at least 4x a week for 30+ minutes

I will not beat myself up for setbacks.

This is a journey and I will reach goal in my own time in my own way. I have a very valuable tool to help me get to where I want to be!:cool2: Along the way I will love myself.

My main goal is to be healthy and use my band as a tool to help me loose weight and eat the right foods and enjoy all the blessings I have in my life.

My ultimate goal is to be under 200 lbs and take my daughter horseback riding on the beach for a day and cherish our time together :)

I LOVE my little 1GB Ipod that is great because it is so little (Slightly bigger than a posatge stamp) and light (and it only cost $64)!!. I have created a folder on my computer that I have saved lots of upbeat songs that I have labelled 'Exercise Folder' it has at least 200 songs on it and I can change this whenever. The little one is great because it is so easy to use and won't jolt around when I wear it exercising :)

i guess as i have no come to the end of the goals its my tun to set them!

1. wear the dress that i saw when i went for my pre op apointment at christmas (would really like it to be a size 16-18, i am a size 22 at the moment)

2. ride a horse without feeling like it is going to break it (size 14-16)

3 not sure where this one fits but get substantially smaller bra, one of the main reasons i have put myself on this journey.

need to think of something else to get from where i am to christmas as that is quite a big jump, not sure yet. any suggestions are welcome!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
