WARNING!- I Was a LapBand "Orphan"

Recommended Posts

hi everyone - was wondering if someone could define BPing. I'm seriously considering the surgery but keep hearing people refer to this 'bping' as embarrassing etc... it's really worrying me!

PB is almost always user error. If you eat too fast, swallow too big a bite, or a bite that isn't chewed well it can get stuck. That's uncomfortable. Resist the urge to take a big drink to move it; that just makes it worse. Stand up. If it doesn't move, you may find that you are "sliming" .... lots of mucus and saliva. This is paving the way for that bite to come back up easily. And come back up it will.....just that chewed up bite. Not at all like vomiting because there's no heaving, no stomach acid, not all the contents of your stomach. JUST THAT BITE. Not good table manners and therefore, a bit embarassing. But, as I said, you usually get a little warning. If you're out, leave the table and take your napkin with you in case you have to catch the bite before you get to the bathroom.

It's not the end of the world and as long as I really do take small bites, chew well, and swallow it before I take another bite, I don't have a problem.

I too was an orphan. Went to a big city, but again no one wanted to accept me when they didn't do the surgery. I persisted until a nurse in one office said she would have the doctor review my medical records. From August til December no follow-up/help/advice.

I could be wrong, but I think the abbreviation people have been using (PB) stands for productive burp. I haven't seen BP used before, but I'm still a newbie.:)

You are describing my experience with my weight. I am not an "Orphan" but the invisibility it right there. Even my husband has ignored me. I am 3 months out and have lost 40 pounds. I feel better but there is another 65 pounds to go. I am walking early in the morning because it is SO hot here in Texas during the summer. Right now I am in a slump and the scales are not moving. After reading your post, I feel much better. I want to be that flirty, exciting woman that turns heads again when I walk into the room. Thank you for your story. I am inspired again.

On The Right Track

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
