Getting banded the day after tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

At least I hope so, I got a sore throat yesterday, no fever.. but hopefully it'll clear up or they're still do surgery as long as i don't develop a fever  for now I'm taking 1,000mg of Vitamin C a day in addition to Multivitamins and hoping and praying I'll still be able to have surgery Tuesday. I'm so excited and a little nervous (but now mainly just worried about being able to have surgery... )

I hope you get to feeling better. I know how dissapointing it would be to have to postpone surgery. Good luck Tuesday, I'll be right behind you on Wednesday!

I had a sore throat too, even lost my voice, but they asked me how I was feeling the day of surgery, and I said great!, which was true, so surgery went ahead. As long as you don't have a cold, or fever, you should be okay, I think.

The only downside though is now everytime I need to cough, I have to hold onto my port incision or else coughing hurts!

ooh, I sure hope that's the case! I'm going to continue really taking it easy and doing everything I can to keep myself healthy so it doesn't get to the point of a cold or fever!

and Lanakila, thank you for reminding me, i should try gargling!!!

I have had a sore throat the past two days. I think it is allergies, I have not felt sick, but wake up with a sore throat. I do not want to have the surgery postponed - that would suck! I haven't been running a fever, so I am hoping the surgery is on.

I also threw my back out. How silly is that, all the gardening put me in a really bad place. I am feeling better but I can't take the anti-inflammatory to help fix the pain. I have been taking a muscle relaxer and vicodin the first day - haven't used it today. I have to check in with the doc in the morning to make sure I will be good to go!

Good Luck Ellen!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
