Had Surgery Yesterday - Doing Great!

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends! I just wanted to update everyone on my surgery. I had it yesterday morning (they also fixed a hernia I didn't know I had). Anyway, it wasn't bad at all! I got up as soon as I was able to and walked and waked and walked. That helped SOOO much! I'm a bit sore, but I know that will get better. I slept on my recliner because it was hard to get in & out of bed. But so far, so good!! I'll keep you posted! :wink2::thumbup:

I agree with previous post. I had surgery Monday, and went shopping yesterday that knocked me out last night. Feel great this morning though! Taking it easy is always best while our body heals.

:smile:I'm glad your feeling good. I had my surgery done on the 29th !! That day will always have a special place in my mind!

Is your port site more sore then the rest of your body or is the gas pains bad? I think I've finally gotten most of the gas out of my body. Thank God!

My port site is sore and that's probably the worst of my pain. I actually didn't have any "gas issues" or pain as of yet. I had a little in my shoulder but I walked it off. Keep in touch!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
