Lory, Congratulations. I had my surgery on July 28th. I could not wait to get on mushies and chew something like you. My doctor had me on liquids for two weeks and Monday I started the mushies. It is great to finally chew something, but remember you have no restriction right around the time you start mushies, because the swelling has gone done which caused the feeling of restriction after surgery. So WILLPOWER is huge now until the first fill, which is now 4 weeks away. Even then he tells me restriction could take several fills. I am so happy I made this decision. Best thing I have done for me in a long time!! Good luck to you. And Welcome, keep posting!

I agree with previous post. I had surgery Monday, and went shopping yesterday that knocked me out last night. Feel great this morning though! Taking it easy is always best while our body heals.

Hi Sarah, My surgery date is July 28th. I started with the initial consult on May 14th and now the date is just around the corner. I cannot wait!! I have lost 12 lbs since that appointment, and hope the liquid diet for the next two weeks removes another 12 from this body. LOL. Good Luck to you!:smile2:

Hi Sarah, I started my liquid diet Saturday, I have not had any problems with bloating. However, I cannot have solid foods like you are so our diets are different. The three Protein shake meals are keeping me ok so far. With sugar free popsicles for Snacks. I am staying busy and out of the house.

I am starting my liquid diet on Monday. Surgery date is July 28th. Once you get a surgery date I would think your doctor would tell you how long he wants you on liquid diet for. It seems all doctors are different from what I have read on here. Congratulations and good luck!

I just received the call from my Doctor's office that I have been approved for the Lap Band surgery. Wow, now that it is finally here I am so excited! Surgery date is July 28th. Thank you all for all the information and support up to this point, and I am sure I will be in need of more support when I start the liquid diet Monday the 14th. I had my first consult with the surgeon on May 14th and 10 weeks later my new life to begin!! :biggrin:

My Doctor said only once he had a patient that had lost weight prior to surgery, but cheated, and when he got in there he had to close because the liver was too big. Scared me enough that when I start liquid diet on the 14th I will not cheat.

Hi Mike, I had the following test. Blood work, Nutritionist, Psychiatric clearance, Cardiac clearance (EKG) & Echocardiogram, Upper GI, Pulmonary Function Test, Arterial Blood Gas Analysis. I do not have any other health issues other than having a BMI of 43. Hope this helps.

I have a surgery date for July 28th. Documentation was submitted to insurance company ( Anthem BC/BS ) on June 26th. Doctors office said we should here by this week. Does anyone else have Anthem, and how long did it take to get approval? Very anxious! Whole process was fairly quick. Consult 5/14/08, completed all required testing, Pre-op appointment 6/26/08 with submission of documentation to insurance. Liquid diet starts 7/14/08.:thumbup:

I also am starting my liquid diet on July 14th Surgery scheduled for July 28th. The liquid diet sounds difficult, but I think It will help with the transition after surgery.:thumbup:
